Hi ya ... I was around when RTW came out, but I spent so much time feverishly trying to fix the game by modding it I got so burnt out I never even really got to play it.
I remember how many of us where working so hard to make battles slower and last longer, etc... Oh man the hours I spent working on that with people.
I also did some music mods and other things as well...

Well, like I said I hardly ever even got to play because all I did was work on the game trying to "fix" it.

Well, I've got the bug, no pun intended, to play some TW type games.

Is it worth coming back to play RTW, if I do should I play a patched vanilla and then on to some mod package and if so which one. Is RTR still the best? Should I make sure to get the exp. pack?

I would play MTW2 but from reading the forums until a real patch 1.2 comes out forget it. I don't want to "fix" the game this time, I actually want to play it!

Thanks so much for your time.

Yes, play EB. It provides a rich, deep campaign experience.

Hi,
It seems that general opinion on the .Org is that Europa Barbaroum is one of the best modifications around. My opinion agrees with them. EB certainly has a rich and detailed campaign experience which takes R:TW to a new level that no other mod seems to do. There are many reviews in the EB sub-forum if you desire a more detailed opinion, sorry, I have just returned from a very long six-hour drive from Central Scotland and I have alot of catching up to do. Hope this helps you, sorry I can't provide more information, cheers!
