Couldn't find an answer to these in the forum or in the manual. Any ideas?

· Is there a shortcut key for “next unit” on the campaign map?

· Is it possible to put units on “sentry” on the campaign map so they are ignored during the “next unit” cycle?

· How can I tell if a unit is actually free for upkeep? When I right click on a unit it still has the maintenance info. Is it also only militia that is free? As some buildings say “first 3 units” not “first 3 militia units”. Some clarification would be great.

Thanks.

Don't know about the first two (never used that feature myself), but as for the third one, the units recieving free upkeep in a city will have a different coloured unit card than those you still have to pay for

Answers :

1- Use the key at the end of the numbers row of your keyboard (or type F1 for help you'll get all keys)

2- Never seen anything like it, it will cycle thru all units no matter what..

3- Free upkeep units are generally blue. From what i gathered to get FU you have to have walls to get FU and must have the ability to produce the unit type that can gain the upkeep. Thus moving FU spear militia from town A (that has a Town watch) to town B (which doesn't) the same spea militia will not get FU...

Hope that helps...

It does, thanks guys. Not sure what you mean by "blue". In the Army panel the unit will have a blue border? Chevron? something else?

Thanks.

No...the entire unit card will turn blue (I like to think of it as regal blue) instead of grey...

Well, you can use the square bracket keys ("[" & "]") to cycle forwards and backwards through stuff:
If you've selected a city, it will cycle through your cities, east-to-west or west-to-east, depending which key you press.
If you have a character selected, it cycles through all named characters; family members, captains, admirals, all agent types.
There is no way that I know of to sequence through, for instance, only combat units or just merchants. That would be handy. (I hate micro-managing all of my various agents).

Note that not all units produced in a city qualify for free upkeep. I believe units must be 'militia' to qualify, but I'm not sure. For example, broken lances cannot be 'kept up' for free. It is probably in some file.
If you have more than enough qualifying units, the game will conveniently choose the costliest for you.

I have never seen a unit that was not listed as militia also get the free upkeep.

Also the above post said

What is the red flashing flag that flashes sometimes when a unit routes?

Also is there a way, apart form clicking, to have a unit continue its journey? Or is the end of turn button the only way?

Thanks.

They're fighting to their death because they are surrounded by you troops. I believe that gives them infinite morale.
