I was looking through the Pics and history thread (enjoying it too!), but noticed that it's a little scatter brained. The idea that I propose is that we archive these stories so that thier all together and that you don't have to hunt down every last page to find part of the story that you missed.

Well I certainly like the idea in concept, YLaC. The problem, however, is that it would be rather difficult to actually implement in practice. Finding, linking, and organizing the various entries for all of the campaign stories would be a fairly enormous task. :sweatdrop:

What I liked to do in my posts in the Pics & History thread was add in links to each previous installment of the story.

Well, I don't think you could find anyone willing to do all this, but if each player - who wanted to, of course - collected his/her (although mostly his actually...) posts I don't see any problem. I have links to all previous episodes in the final episode of my Swedish campaign, and plan to do the same with my on-going Polish one.
It doesn't take too long to gather a few links, but that is as long as each player stick to his own campaign(s).

A good idea, YLaC! :2thumbsup:

As noted by Innocentius, it would have to be an optional thing. For what it is worth, I will try to add links on my own future posts.

Cheers

I'll try to do it.

Though it is a bloody hard task!

I'll undergo this task if people would feel that it would benefit the Main Hall. Give me a day or so and I'll start planning the layout of the thread.

Along these lines, I was thinking about doing a big write-up "project" (yes, I'm one of *those* people who likes to make play into something resembling work) in which I play through all the VI factions on Expert, turtling, and sharing my experiences. I was thinking about starting a new thread for this -- maybe a new thread for each faction as I play them? -- but I'm not sure about the etiquette involved. Should I post in the big giant thread (which is very cool, btw) or make my own that's smaller & more focused?

To make your task easier, try clicking "Search this thread" in the gray bar above the posts. Then search by the user name of the person whose progress you want to follow. You get a list of that person's posts.

For example, if you go to the pics and history thread, click "search this thread" and enter "Martok" in the search users field, you can read 100 instances of Martok saying, "Wow, nice campaign you've got going there. Keep us posted."

A little too enthusiastic, perhaps? Maybe I ought to drop the pom-poms. :idea2:

It took me a while to figure this out so I'll comment on it even if this may betray quite a lot about me: The bar you're talking about is coloured brown!

Although, let's not be too nasty. For sure Martok's not the only one who reads the stories, but a little encouragement here and there does a good service to the author's morale.

Brown? On my screen, each post has a brown stripe above it, but the top of each page has a gray stripe, which is where the thread search is located. Maybe we are just using a different setting of some kind?

Martok, keep up the encouragement! I've thought about posting a history in that thread, but I know I wouldn't do it if I didn't think anyone was reading them. I hope You didn't think I was being nasty.

Not all, gunslinger. I have a pretty tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, so I wouldn't have been offended even if that had been your intention. (Besides which, I can always punish you by sending you to work in Mithrandir's stables with just your bare hands.) ~D

Sorry the mental image that formed was too much! Camel riders look funny enough, but armed with pom poms?~:joker:

In my current Teutonic history, I am writing them as word documents then cutting and pasting, so when I finish I could post as a single thread some where. I do like the idea of pulling them together though.

What exactly is being proposed here...? :book:

In answer to your question Cambyses II, this is an attempt to gather and archive all the Pics and Histories, as they are at present scattered. The idea is to create something so that you don't have to remember where such and such installment or chapter is. To all of you, thanks for the support! I was actually thinking of doing the entire thing by myself (creating a new thread, sorting each History, posting them in order, adding credits/notes, etc.).

Do not mock the Bedouin Cheerleader Warriors! They frighten the enemy with their cute pink outfits and obnoxious perkiness. :whip:

Bedouin Cheerleader Warriors:

Charge: 6
Attack: 4
Defense: 0

Special: Nearby friendly units receive a +4 morale boost. (They'll fight faster, harder -- anything to stop the annoying din in their ears and the waving of fluffy pom-poms.)

2nd special: Any units engaging BCW automatically suffer a -8 penalty to their morale.

But I digress....

Since there does appear to be a fair amount of support for this idea, here is what I'm thinking:

Just have one of us simply start a new thread and begin archiving/organizing AAR's. (Heck, I suppose I can start it myself, for that matter.) People can then contribute to it as they wish, adding more story summaries/links as they go. If the thread gets enough substantial contributions that it looks like it will be used fairly often, I'll go ahead and sticky it.

Does this sound like a plan?

All Hail Martok! I'm sorry my proposal wasn't completely fleshed out, but thanks to Martok, I don't have to any more! :beam: :2thumbsup: .
