Hi,

I've been a fan of EB for some time now, and I actually had been successfully playing .80 until I ran into the CTD problem (which I see mentioned quite a bit on the forums). So, I unistalled RTW and etc....but when I reinstalled everything, I've run into a bit of a snag. I've been able to install RTW and patch it up to 1.5; but then I double click the EB full installer (0.81a) it starts to unpack the files for a while, but finally stops and gives an error message saying that it can't find the proper file associations. So, I was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem, and what they did to fix it. Originally, I was thinking it was a corrupt installer, so I've tried re-downloading and installing several times, but I always get the same error. Even more odd, if I try to install 0.80 instead of 0.81a, I still get the same error now (even though I had previously been able to install 0.80). A very strange error indeed. I've even tested this with my backup computer (a laptop) and I get the same error. Is there some winrar or unzip software that I might be lacking? Or does anyone have some other ideas of what could be going wrong with the installation process? I'm begging for help here...since I am now suffering from EB withdrawal. :(

Thanks for any help you might have for me,
Brian

May have to do with the EB uninstaller.
I don't know...

Did you uninstall EB before uninstalling RTW?

Yes, made sure to uninstall all copies of rtw, bi, and eb...I even went so far as to delete the folder that had anything left behind (the rtw folder that this, which holds the eb folder as well). Is there any part of EB that I might have to delete from the system directory?

I just wanted to post up the exact error that I have been getting, to see if this helps anyone identify the problem I am having. After the computer tries unpacking the EB installer...it says:

"This file does not have a program association with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel."

I have no idea what this means...does anyone else? :help:

Thanks for any help and advice,
and keep up the awesome work EB team!

Hmm... I don't know what files are run during the installation, but I thought they were exe files. You could try to install winrar or another rar extractor as you suggest, it can't hurt and it might help.
