Okay, I read before on a forum that the Papacy when eleminated will ask all of Christiandom for a piece of land. Well after being excommed I was fed up and wiped them out. Afterwards the new pope was elected (My factions Bishop of course) and that was it. All I see of the Papacy is a single stack of General Bodyguards (With the pope) around where the Papal States used to be. They have no land that I know of and I was never asked to give them any either. Is something wrong? I thought the Papacy would come back and try to take land by force or at least beg for some. Hell, I was planning on giving them Dublin (Ireland) but nothing. Is this normal?

Yes, that's normal.

The papacy cannot be destroyed, even when it has no territory, and although I've also read of that 'feature', i've never seen it occur ingame.

Thanks, but I fully understand that you cannot destroy them. But, I thought that a christian nation would give up a territory or you may even be asked for one, I wasn't expecting just to see the pope floating around without a home.

I don't feel like helping him anymore. I gave him a bunch of land and money so what does he do, he gets mad if I don't jump through his hoops. Ugg, screw him.

I never had him ask for any land except when I took Rome from the rebels. True it was my spies that caused the problem, but oh well. He asked for his home back then. As he had other land and I needed rome for the win I said no. Much later after the win he lost all of his lands and he did not ask again. Only that first time for rome before the win. So I set him up in a nice rest home in the hills as I was the only C faction left. SadCat :book:

One of my Popes asked for Rome also, after he sent me on a Crusade to take it from Milan (which gave me an excuse to wipe out that pesky faction). When I gave it to him, he went on a rampage, conquering much of the rest of Italy, Jerusalem and most of North Africa to boot; other than the Timurids and my English faction, I think he's now the 3rd most powerful faction.

I found that a landless Papacy seems more amenable to my faction's penitence and donations, yet the Papacy and the Papal States are not one and the same in game. It might not make such a difference.
