Hey, I just downloaded EB and it's a very fine game but there some things troubling me.

1.Is it possible to play a barbarian faction? They run out of money to fast and there's nothing you can you about it.

2.What is wrong with the spearmen? Why do they hold the spear stupidly?

3.Why do those naked guys have such a high def. when they wear no clothes?

4.In custom battle why do factions have access to all units?

5.How do I get one of those EB faction things for my signature?

Any answers will be appreciated.

1. Yes, its not that hard. Build up your economy and then fight, not the other way around. This is harder for the Sabeans, and the Steppe factions.

2. Do you mean hoplites? They most likely fought overhand due to the nature of Greek phalanx warfare.

3. Defense skill is their skill at defending themselves. Armour is based on clothes and stuff. They have drugged themselves up to the eyeballs and feel no pain and attack with a ferocity hard to counter.

4. See FAQ.

Infact, check the FAQ, they probably answer everything.

Hey, I just downloaded EB and it's a very fine game but there some things troubling me.

Then I shall try to help.

1.Is it possible to play a barbarian faction? They run out of money to fast and there's nothing you can you about it.
All factions run out of money (except for the richest ones. Keeping an army in the field is an expensive thing to do. If a faction was historically militarily mobilised in 272BCE then they will have a large army and a large army upkeep to go with it. You can either choose to disband the majority of your troops until you are in the black and making money, or you can choose to use your troops to expand your starting area.

2.What is wrong with the spearmen? Why do they hold the spear stupidly?
You'll have to give more details than that. We recently added new animations for some overhand spearmen units, where before they used an underhand animation. This means two things, firstly their walking animation is a bit odd as the spear is in the ground, and also the grip on the spear is wrong and needs to be changed.

3.Why do those naked guys have such a high def. when they wear no clothes?
To make full use of RTW's stat system (which is not exactly how we would like it) our own stat system for working out armour is very complex. I'll leave it to one of the stat team to reply to this, but this is a common question so you may be able to find the answer elsewhere if you do a search for it.

4.In custom battle why do factions have access to all units?
Nothing we can do about this unfortunately. To allow for our complex recruitment system to work many of the units are shared between factions. Unfortunately RTW doesn't allows us to say if any given unit will be avaliable for a particular faction in the custom battle or not. We do have a multiplayer edu which you can swap into the EB data folder, which only includes factional troops (but is incompatible with the campaign game).

5.How do I get one of those EB faction things for my signature?

You can find the links for the banners here (https://www.europabarbarorum.com/downloads_artwork.html). To add them to your signature, right-click on the banner you want and click on the menu option "copy image location". Go into your "User CP" and add the address for the image that you copied to your signature box between the tags:

Any answers will be appreciated.

if you have any more then please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you Foot your answers were helpful but as for the signature thing I don't have a "copy image location" option when I right click on the faction thing I want is there anything else I can do to get one?

To clarify what Foot said: You can make a unit unavailable in custom battles, but this requires making it unavailable to ALL factions.

[EDIT: Foot's response was correct and comprehensive - I misread it.]

Ah, you'd be using internet explorer. I would recommend changing to firefox, as it is the king of all web browsers. Anyhow, if your using internet explorer the option you want to click on will be called plain old "copy".

Hey, I just downloaded EB and it's a very fine game but there some things troubling me.

Glad to help. ~:)

1.Is it possible to play a barbarian faction? They run out of money to fast and there's nothing you can you about it.

They run out of money because having a proper army was extremely expensive in those days. The best tactic is too attack. You get new territories, cash from looting, and troops die, and you get more cash to the treasury.

2.What is wrong with the spearmen? Why do they hold the spear stupidly?

Would you like to post a screenshot?

3.Why do those naked guys have such a high def. when they wear no clothes?

Ranika, our top "celtic" master (now replaced by Anthony) explained to me once that the Gaesatae (the naked guys) drugged themselves before going into battle. The drug was extremely powerful (even when vital parts were disconnected, the brain still kept running, and even when he was clinically dead, he was actually living ~) , and because of that, their senses were not normal, and thus, they would fight till death, death in battle.

4.In custom battle why do factions have access to all units?

Custom battles are not fixed yet, and will never be, because of EB's complex recruitment system.

Hope it helps. ~:)

He means for a period of time if he had let's say a spear burried in his lungs he'd still fight like that was a flesh wound... much like Monty Pythons "Quest for the holy Graal" black knight...

Cheers...

Basically, if the biological system just isn't getting the info that tells it it's dead it'll try to keep going as if nothing had happened until complete shutdown, of course barring sufficient damage to something critically important (brain and the rest of the CNS mainly - the processing unit and/or datapaths go, the system goes). AFAIK people sometimes pull off that sort of scary stuff just by the natural hormones of their brain, but obviously to achieve that sort of effect even remotely reliably it's better to turn to, shall we say, uncommon measures.
:pimp2:
The first one's free...

Kinda the same thing that necessitated the crossbars on boar-spears and -swords, save in humans. Armed, skilled and crazy humans. Bet you there were some odd bits about the Celtic views on afterlife that played an important part in the emergence of the Gaesatae tradition.

Please do not resort to flaming a perfectly good web browser, firefox ain't all that good either, just more people use IE so more hackers attack it. I've used IE for years and i've never gotten any virus off it, infact the only viruses that have ever tried to attack me (and all caught) have been completly unrelated to IE.

--Back on topic--

Anyways I think the best way to get the idea of how it feels to be a Gaesatae is to injest drugs equal to the drugs Gaesatae took and have your best friend beat the %&# out of you. :idea2: :laugh4:

When the hell did flame?! I stated preference and recommended it. Nowhere did I say anything about IE. What the hell!? I said that firefox was the king of all web browsers, and as far as I am aware that is not flaming. I said nothing about IE at all. Where hell did this come from.

Rilder, I am disappointed in you, I don't know where that came from, but it certainly couldn't have been construed from my post. Sorry if you feel that I somehow attacked IE when I said that firefox was the king of web browsers, but your reply is certainly not reasonable. to you, sir.

I apologize, mostly werever someone mentions firefox they think that its all " '1337 hax' and that all Ie users should rot in a million viruses" so tend to remind them that its no better or worse then IE.

I (and many, many others) would argue that it is by many leaps and bounds, but this isn't the place for it. It does involve a matter of preference and I will grant you that; however, the argument of FireFox over IE does have an answer in terms of usability and compatibility across the internet.

Well, technically, you're not going to go on more than thirty seconds or so after the heart stops beating, simply because you're not pumping oxygen to your brain. And it doesn't matter how many different drugs you are on if your brain dies. But you can take a lot of damage elsewhere and still go on if you have enough chemical persuasion, naturally or otherwise. :)
