Hi, I just got this game a week ago, and decided to try online. My record is 10-2 so far, and 1 of those losses makes me believe the other guy was cheating. Here's what happened:
I set the koku limit to 2000, ensuring a smaller battle. I had a good sized army with about 80% yari samari so I would not be too outnumbered. I clicked begin battle, then the bitch has an army 3 times the size of mine, and I saw no yari ashigarus. He had cavalry, archers, yari samaris, no-dachis, and tons of monks. I know not all hacks can be fixed, but I mean damn, some people are pussies.

Yep , one of the main reasons that i did not play an on line game yet even if i had the game since sept 2000. Kinda feels like a waste of time and energy

Yes but playing someone who cheats only makes the victim better at the game. I lost that battle but inflicted heavy casualties. Using Alexander the Great tactics really helps http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Are sure he didn't fight useing minus koku.
This is somthing a lot of new players don't realise.
Instead of left clicking, thus adding to your troops honour. You right click and decrease it.This way you can buy bigger armys. The trade off.
You can always tell by counting the banners each individual unit carries. The more banners the higher the unit in questions honour.
I thought the same thing myself when i first played online, but this really is quite common.

If you also had the log file option turned on you can check if he was cheating or not.

yeah i would say that he lowered the honour because i have not seen a person use that cheat before most of the time it is just a mistake by the other person in his inexperience at playing online and counting the flags. but check your logfile it will clear it up for you

No I am not that dumb http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif Sorry I forgot to mention it but the men were experienced, each unit had like 7 banners.

Never seen that one myself, but it's been reported often enough to be believed.

How about a positive list.... A list of players that are ready to respect the rules and have proven themselves.... just an idea

we already had that, it was on our Honor Roll or Hall of Fame or somesuch. Check it out, it's why some of the .Org users have a yellow HF icon above their icon. It's for different reasons, but there was a category for Most Honorable Player, or two.

Problem with positive list is that it could cause as many problems.
If it's self nominated it's meaningless, if not then it'll be, Hey why aren't I on that list, and, What's he doing there, he cheated against me. Lists are bad things when people don't really know one another. The only way to go about it is the hard way. Get to know people, play the ones you trust, and if you take a chance palying someone new and they cheat just think loser, bad luck and stick the name on a private list so yuo don't paly them again
