Couldn't find any guides on this, could someone tell me which files need to be edited to add a new settlement to the campaign map?

descr_regions, map_regions, descr_strat (not 100% necessary), text/imperial_campaign_regions...

And don't forget to delete map.rwm

Cheers, but I can't open the text/imperial_campaign_regions... file as it is a BIN file. None of my programs can open it.

EDIT: Downloaded that file, but now some othe problems. The game crashes (not to desktop, screen just goes blank and freezes, can only see mouse cursor) when loading the Grand Campaign. I don't know where I've gone wrong, but this is what I have done so far:

Added to descr_strat:

settlement castle
{
level town
region Casiel_Province

year_founded 0
population 1500
plan_set default_set
faction_creator england
building
{
type core_castle_building wooden_castle
}
}

Added to descr_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup:

Casiel_Province
Casiel

Added to descr_regions.txt:

Casiel_Province
Casiel
scotland
Irish_Rebels
10 200 10
silver, atlantic, explorers_guild
5
6
religions { catholic 96 orthodox 0 islam 0 pagan 2 heretic 2 }

Added to text/imperial_campaign_regions...:

{Casiel_Province} Casiel_Province
and
{Casiel} Casiel

And I also edited map_regions, and deleted map.rwm.

looks good, did u open the base map/regions and add the colour on the map for the region. a black 1 pixel for city and white for port (if u want 1)
also you need to add the city to the text/imperial-campaign_settlements.
if you need the bin converter search for it in the tools, aplica (sorry for misspelled name) made a great tool.

oh and make sure your text folder is working 1st cuz the game will crash if it doesnt.

take the settlement text and rename london to HI and start the game. start new campaign with England and if "london" says HI on the map ur good to go with your new province, if it doesnt then the game will crash and ur error will says can not find text entry imperial_C....._Setllements.....line ### ###

that means ur texts are not creating a new .bin and ur gonna have to fix it.
took me about 3 days to get the blasted text folder to work.

I tried using alpaca's converter, but its only for converting BIN files into text files. I need to convert text/imperial_campaign_regions... into a BIN file from the text file that I've edited. At least thats what I think I'm supposed to do.

The game automatically generates the new .bin file when you load it up and you have the .txt file in the correct place and no corresponding .bin file.

I think I left the old BIN file along with the text version. Would that be causing the problem then?

EDIT: After testing, apparently thats not the problem. I've no idea where I'm going wrong here, I used to be able to add settlements to RTW with ease.

Try setting faction_creator to scotland. It's really hard to see what's wrong over the internet

Tried that, still no joy.:wall:

How did you get it sorted?

Have you looked in the system log file for an error?

Things that can go wrong are:

wrong rgb colour specified
city being on an invalid tile
names in the .bin, as mentioned

i think these kick you back to menu instead of crashing. at least i think the first two do

your most likly having an issue with the settlement.text
make sure your spelling is correct for province and cityname

your error log is probaly something like invalid string in data/text/.......... line ### column ####
