Im sure most of you are aware of the soulless evil that is EA and it's endless cash-in expansion packs for the Sims and the Sims 2 that outsell real games weekly.
But I wonder if CA did the same thing for Med 2 (a GOOD game EA), would you buy them? For example maybe a "Medieval 2: Titles and Ancillaries" or something.

No I wouldn't. An expansion has to also offer something really new to make me buy it at the price they are offered these days. That said, I wouldn't buy the upcoming expansion pack unless there is also sufficient content added for the main campaign too.. like some more units for the original factions and improved/extended features (otherwise it wouldn't be an "expansion", wouldn't it?)

Well there isn't so looks like CA lost £20 there :laugh4:

I don't think I would pay actual money for stuff like that. Monopoly money maybe. I would buy as many expansion packs as are worth buying, but since the tendency is for a company to make only one that improves and expands the game in a major way, I'd probably only buy one.

Not sure though, but i think it depends on the theme of the expansion pack.
I really like to see a Viking Invasion 2 for example and the Britain campaign in the Kingdoms Expansion pack with its starting date 12something is not my preferred era.
Also a kind of Dark Ages would be interesting.
But, i think CA would be clever, if they made a poll about the wishes of their customers.
Exclude unrealistic wishes like Rome2 or Shogun2 for the expansion pack and give us a few choices. For example between Viking themes (not so much change for the models) or perhaps a Jeanne D'Arc theme.

Here CA and Sega could see the potential for further expansion packs.

Look at Oblivion, they made tons of small, meaningless feature packs that are somehow supposed to make the game better because you can buy a differently colored horse.
Nonetheless, there seem to be enough people who buy them.
I wouldn't waste my money on a traits pack or something, because I know I can probably make it better (or at least better suited to my taste) than whatever uninspired thing CA would do there.

I think such a poll/polls is/are in the launcher for v1.2

The upcoming X-Pack looks significant to warrant a purchase - if just because it has a campaign about the Teutonic Order. Additionally, it may have improved AI like BI did - if it helps, I don't mind paying for patches. However, I wouldn't purchase an X-Pack that added just one faction or just a few units with nothing else. Kingdoms will have 4 campaigns and a handful of new features, which makes it worth it in my book.

If they did that I wouldnt buy each one. I might buy one way down the line that combines all the previous ones because it'd have to be enough to make it worth my money. Expansions have to offer sufficient content for the buyer to buy I think. What that limit of content is differs for each individual. I'm of the opinion most people want alot of 'good' content to make them pony up the money. Otherwise they wont do it and find something else to play or just play the current game in their current happy state of bliss.
