How often do fellow members get their haircut? I just went today after about a little over a month, but I usually try to get mine cut every 3 weeks. How about everyone else?

Mrs. Kukri cuts mine about every 2 months.
Once I departed the military (haircut every Friday), I quit shining shoes, brass, and leather, and cut my hair only when it starts getting in my way.
And grew a beard.
And only iron my clothes for weddings and funerals.

Gotta love the magazines they have...

Once every month. My hair's starting to grow shaggy after a month, especially the sides. Even though I like it big, because I can make my favourite type of haircut (the crest...like the French Rooster), I have to cut it.

I just got my hair cut 4 hours ago. I schedule for 7 weeks and that seems to work out nice.
Until about 5-6 years ago I'd go without a haircut until my banges were so long I couldn't stand it any longer. Then I'd forget to call for an appointment for another 2-4 weeks. Once I'd remember to call, I'd have to wait another week or two until there was an opening. Scheduling ahead 7 weeks before I walk out of the place works out much nicer.
I voted wrong, I should have put the last one because I only get a haircut, like, 3 times a year, it would be ok but my hair doesn't grow down it grows sideways.
What a bunch of hippies! :hippie:
Once every 2+ months. Some day I'll just let it grow and grow...
Edit-> 1 more post to go for 2,000, and a bunch of spammers got the Post Celebration thread locked.
Once a month by my woman.
Used to get it done every two or three weeks when I was a security guard in Montreal way back when. Always by this Italian guy with perfect hair. Then I treated myself to an excellent ice cream cone at the place near the barber shop. It was a nice routine.
When I was finished with that job, I moved to the woods and let the beard and the hair grow until I looked like Rasputin.
around 2 months normally. I'm actually due for another haircut soon.
Every 4 - 6 weeks, unless I want to grow a mop and it's uncut and unclean for 2-4 months.
Up until 3-4 years ago, I used to get my hair cut every 8-10 weeks. I had a lot more hair back then, so I let get all "fro-ey" on me.
Now, though, I keep my head buzzed as close to bald as possible -- it's wonderfully low-maintenance. My roommate shaves my scalp every 2 weeks or so. If for some reason she's not around to do it, I'll go to the nearest barber shop.

I head down to the old village barber, Kaz, at least once a month. We have to maintain a military buzz-cut, along with the spit-shined shoes, belt, collar brass, and military creases in the uniform at the Shock Camp I work, and I love a fresh haircut.
Kaz is getting up there in age, close to 80, but he's sharp as a tack and lots of fun to talk to. He only charges $7, but I always give him a ten-spot and tell him to keep the change. His stories and friendly banter are well worth the money. I tell him the tip is for the entertainment.
The last time I was there he accidentally nicked my ear with the straight razor. While applying the styptic pencil he remarks to the room, "Yep, looks like I'm going to have to notch the other one to even it up.":gathering:

I'm not a fan of haircuts, so I let it grow out quite a bit and then cut it very close, so I can go a good while before needing another. I don't want it to grow too long either, though, because it's so much more work to keep long hair clean. A few weeks back was my first time trying to do it myself, and fortunately I haven't been getting too many funny looks since.

I was avoiding this thread seeing as I haven't actually cut my hair yet, after making such a big deal about it in that thread before. Since you bring it up, though, the last time I cut it was about 3 and a half years ago.
But I'm getting it done on thursday, honest! The appointment's made and everything.
Last time I had a pair of scissors in my hair, was in May 1995. It stopped growing a long time ago, of course. I treat it well otherwise, though.

When on R&R, I rarely get hair-cuts. I get really long, curly hair, as do all other members of my family excluding my father.
When in the military, it is every week.
When preparing for an operation, it is good to get a hair cut, at least for me. A good ol' mohawk gets the morale up.
BKS, stay strong.

I get my hair cut about twice a year since longer hair suits my rounder face. Presently, I have it in a brushed back side parting, which means I don't really notice the fact that if I combed by hair forward, it would stop just below my nose.

Don't get too excited yet folks. BKS didn't say how much hair he's getting cut. It may just be a little trim to restore some order rather than a full blown "take it all off" cut.

When I had a full head of hair, I'd let it go 6-8 weeks between haircuts. Now, the few stragglers I have left on the top look quite unkempt if they don't get trimmed down on a regular basis. And the sides and back are as thick and grow as quickly as they always did. I do a lot of business travel and I don't always have time to dash out for a haircut before I'm required to attend a customer visit, so it's best for me to keep it 'ready to show' at all times.
As rarely as possible, but since I go to a school that would surely regulate height and nose size if it could, I can't usually put it off more than a couple of months.
When I was a kid a had a mop head and got a hair cut about every 3 months. In Highschool I buzzed it all off and maintained it at home with a 1" buzzer. While deployed I kept it pretty much the same but now that I'm back to being a dirty civy I've grown it out so it's just a 2" buzz around the sides and a trim with scissors on the top, just enough to keep the hair off my neck and ears so my ROTC Cadre and National Guard leadership can't get mad because I make sure it meets regulation. After texting two weeks is the max limit before those hairs touch the ear and I'm a dirty hippy. Hope when I go active again as a Lt. that my CO will allow me to have my long yet regulation haircut, I'm tired of maintaining the small turd of hair on the top.

Meh. Having my Hair Cut has never really been a priority. I usually give it a good trim, or cut during early summer so I'm not sweating buckets come the 100+ Degree Weather. But then I let it grow for the rest of the year.
Just shave it bald :P Will save you barber money, even shampoo money :laugh4:

What's all this about cutting hair? I either burn mine in the campfire or rip it out if it gets annoying. Just don't ask me how often I bathe.

So Tamur, I was sitting here drinking my tea and I got to wondering, how often do you bathe?

Ripping it out is not something I'd recommend, neither burning it off. Just bang your head against the wall long enough and imagine that it'll disappear. Trust me... it works. No, really(!), trust me and try it out! :saint:

By the way, I have a question. What's more useful for cutting facial hair, blade or razor machine?
I need to cut the "sides", and so far my skin ain't too happy with a blade.
Big King Sanctaphrax

Real men use blades. If you actually want a good shave, I would advise getting either a dual-edged safety razor or a straight, cut-throat razor. They are much, much better than the rubbish cartridge razors Gillette push now (Mach 3 and stuff) and the blades are also a lot cheaper-free in the case of the straight razor (you don't need to replace it).
The dual-edged razor is probably going to be the easiest for you. I personally favour Merkur razors-
http://www.mankind.co.uk/images/prodimages/MEPS1.jpg
They're made in Germany, so you should be able to get hold of one pretty easily. You'll also need a shaving brush and some shaving cream/soap, and you'll probably want to buy stuff like Alum bars and styptic pencils too. It's worth it though, in my opinion-I could never shave with a cheap disposable or an electric anymore. Once you have a bit of practice, the shave you'll get knocks spots off these other methods-plus it's far more manly and enjoyable.

I'm afraid I may have to disapoint-I didn't get as drastic a haircut as I was considering a few months ago.
I got a good 6 inches taken off though, and it looks a lot tidier now. I'll probably have it cut graduallly shorter by increments, I think it will be easier psychologically.

Ah, what the hell you talking about? Using razors, blades, knives, pffff. I always ask a crackshot cah-boh to use his sixshooters to graze the facial hair off. From a good distance too, of course. Dangerous, but ah ~
Once a week on Sunday. In my unit, you have to show up Monday with a fresh haircut.
That and I despise hair on my sides and back ever since high school. Can't really say why other than it just really irritates me.

Where's the "once a year" option, then? :laugh4:
I just announced the official start of spring by having my winter coat buzzed down to an all-over number 2. I always (not that "always" means a lot at yearly intervals....) go to the little Italian place across the road from where I work, and scare the staff witless on my return after lunch.
A few years ago I looked a lot like my avatar, but it got seriously irritating, and you get to the bar quicker with cropped hair :2thumbsup: .

My hair is like Jimmy Page's (http://www.adirondackmusic.net/leftovers/myweb2/images/j_page_w_dano_2.jpg), except a bit thicker and I have a fringe rather than brushing it over one eye like he does. Last haircut was September, and that was really more of a trim. I cut my own fringe every six weeks or so though.
Well it was shearing time in our household again which is why I had my hair cut yesterday along with my 2 younger brothers. At our house haircuts are done by mother with the dog clippers. Not that they are used on the dog they were just cheaper than normal hair clippers which is why she got them.
So thats me good for another few months. :2thumbsup:
