Hello all I've just recently bought a new pc (a fairly mid-range one) and I was pretty much underwhelmed by the performance of Medieval 2 .

What can I expect from my PC? I have a Core2Duo E6400 2.13 Ghz, PCI-E Palit GeForce 7600 GT 256 Mb, 1 Gb Apacer 533 DDR2, SATA 160 Gb Hardisk. I tried running the game at a modest 1024X768 resolution, with all effects on medium, AAX2, AFX16 and large unit sizes and I was absolutely underwhelmed by my framerate. I didn't use FRAPS or any of that but the game was visibly choppy.

Strange, I was expecting it to perform better.... any ideas? Anyone with a system close to mine?

Seems the game is very CPU-intensive, so I heard. Maybe the game is not optimized for C2D? The 6400 isn't bad, but it ain't the best either, though.

First thing I'd do is get more RAM though, and see what happens.

Oh yeah, and of course check all drivers and stuff. The standard stuff.

More RAM never hurts, but that system should be playing M2TW fine.

Haven't you got a post in the H&S forum indicating that this only happens in custom battles?

Sounds like a game error (not a hardware one) to me...

Thanks for the thoughts, how about your systems? Better than mine probably huh? Never noticed anything similar.

sapi:

yeah that post was mine but after a while I noticed that it was happening on all battles and not just custom, it was just more noticeable in custom battles. The problem is baffling because the game looks choppy even if I tone down everything. :furious3:

Looks like I'll just have to reinstall and see if that helps... maybe I'll even reformat my pc. (PS yeah I have the latest drivers :dizzy2:)
