Strange Crash

Okay, ever since I downloaded the leaked 1.2 from filefront my M2Tw has been acting crazy: it crashes whenever I try to fight a battle in both custom and campaign.

So I uninstalled and got rid of everything and reinstalled and put on the official 1.1 and deleted my leaked 1.2. Everything was working fine again.

Then I get Carl's problem fixer and it happens again. I've wiped the slate clean again.. only now there're some files that won't allow themselves to be deleted:

In sega/Medieval II Total War/miles there are

mssdsp.flt
msseax.m3d
msssoft.m3d
mssmp3.asi

that won't allow me to delete them like I did last time.

so I reinstall on my other harddrive installed 1.1 and it still crashes whenever it loads a battle.

Any advice?

Reboot and press F8 over and over before windows loading screen appears, then choose 'Safe Mode' from boot menu and try to delete the files.
Maybe your hard disk is scrobbled so try running chkdsk.exe.
