Hi, so here is the process I went through when installing:
-Uninstalled Rome and BI (first through the Rome uninstaller and then after another failure with EB through Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel).
-Made a copy of the RTW folder (Vanilla Version 1.5), renamed it EB.
-Put the EB .81 Full installer into the new EB folder and installed EB.
-Loaded EB from the EB .81 shortcut on the desktop, and got this error:
(Called RomeTW.exe-Unable to locate component)
This application has failed to start because MSS32.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
I don't know whats wrong, but I want to play this mod, dammnit. Some help would be very appreciated, thanks guys.

I think that's the error you get when you install EB to a different folder than where you have RTW.
Note that you should be using 0.81a.

:inquisitive: Okay, how many traces of RTW did you remove? As soon as it's patched you have to remove more than just one to make the whole thing disappear. /:inquisitive:

Alright, a few things:
-It is 0.81a.
-I have tried EB a couple times, uninstalling RTW at first through the game's uninstall program, and then a separate time only using the Add/Remove component. So I haven't tried those in conjunction.
-I made a copy of my newly installed RTW folder and renamed it EB, and installed EB from inside there.
I am unclear as to what you (Tellos) mean by "how many traces of RTW did you remove?" I have to remove more than just one of what to make the whole thing disappear?
Something I noticed was that the last time I installed RTW vanilla, it was already version 1.5, without me patching anything. So this might be an indication I am not uninstalling it correctly.
Thanks for the help.

The fact that an "EB" folder exsists inside of another folder named "EB" may be a problem. I don't know...
I think that should work actually.
Hannibaler, I think your problem is a missing file concerning the Miles sound system. Check this page (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mss32) for a download of the library file you're missing, it's the first hit on Google for the filename. It should be placed somewhere under your Windows installation apparently.
According to some comments there it might not work with RTW though... Maybe you can find another version that works somewhere on the net, try Google, eMule etc.

A couple of things:
1) I meant this https://img201.imageshack.us/img201/4426/aacr1.jpg (https://imageshack.us) Removing multiple traces of RTW is required. And, I suspect the 1.3 patch being the cause people like me can't properly uninstall RTW using the uninstaller...
2) Do you have RTW gold?
Anyway, if you could always do the following things:
1) Uninstall everything RTW or EB you find on your PC. Just everything, leaving no copies of whatever on your HD.
2) Restart your PC, install RTW (without BI) -> back up this build
3) Check whether everything is patched properly, if not make sure it is.
4) Install EB on top of the original.
5) Never mind about BI. (Don't know anything about it, but IF this BI installer asks you to enter the destination path... Well, then you could try to make another back up of your back up, and install BI on top of that one.)
6) See if EB works now.
The DLL missing thing is a sure sign of a bad install, since RTW comes with the Miles thing - so if you fix that one you'll probably encounter some other error regarding missing or unknown stuff.

Hey guys, I appreciate the help a lot. Once I get some time I will try to get EB to work again.
I have a few questions though: Should I use Add/Remove from the Control Panel or the Uninstall thing from itself first? And should I try to take off the patch (it says its 1.3 on my computer even though the actual version is 1.5) before I take off RTW itself? I think my RTW is Gold also, since it starts out patched to 1.5.

Well, I only used the Add/Remove button - since my RTW uninstaller always gets stuck... :juggle:

Damn, it still doesn't work. I tried what you said-no dice. It is definitley the Gold Edition that I'm using...Any more suggestions? I was able to uninstall all traces of RTW and EB this last time too. It still says it cannot find RomeTW.exe

So you have now installed RTW only? If so, there's the method of stubborness:
restart your PC, try again;
if still no luck -> uninstall RTW with the uninstaller, if you haven't patched it;
-> restart your PC;
-> re install RTW;
-> check if it works;
If so: continue by patching it to 1.5 if it wasn't 1.5 already;
If not: try again;
If you have your RTW working and patched to 1.5: on to installing EB;
Check if it works now;
If not: on to step 1 again...
It's tiresome... but as soon as you've managed to get EB to live on your PC... I think you'll find it was worth it.
And: DO NOT BOTHER WITH BI. When you get tired/ bored of EB (IF you ever will), uninstall the whole lot, reinstall all of RTW/ BI you want.

This last time I had to use v .8 instead of .81a, which I had been using before, does that make a difference? The link for .81a is down and at this point I don't care too much if its .8 or .81.
Oops, torrent can now be downloaded once more. Nevermind.

Is it likely that simply buying a new RTW vanilla (not Gold) would work? (once I patched it 1.5 obviously)
Unlikely. Did you try to download the mss32.dll? Please verify that your installation looks like this:
https://img405.imageshack.us/img405/5170/ebdirsd6.jpg
My mss32.dll says it's version 3.0.0.0.

I think this helps. My folder did not look like that when I thought I had EB installed on it. My mms32.dll is 3.0.0.0., but it didn't have all those files, and no EB folder, just the FullInstaller file and the shortcut for EB. So maybe its something basic I'm doing wrong...just weird because it seems so simple.
You need to install EB into the SAME folder as your RTW installation. I think this is your problem.

I am pretty sure I am doing that, I take the installer file, put into the RTW file and run the installer program.

Well, I expanded this part of the install guide... Just click the hyperlink in my sig and verify you did exactly what's described in step 5. With of course one exception: your EB installer is not located on the desktop. (Downloading EB installler to the desktop is just a trick to save RAM: you don't need to run some other program first to run the installer. But you shouldn't bother with moving anything: apparently your PC is powerful enough to cope.)
