Hi,
I suppose it is quite fun - I tried it once - many AI flaws, such as the AI running it's army to exhaustion, are removed which improves the battle. However, it does make every battle so critical as units cannot escape to fight another day. It also ends many tactical prospects that one could use with the mode off. Although arcade mode is Ok, it just isn't as magnificent as a genuine "realistic" battle.

Myself, I've never played on arcade mode - and probably never will. That's just me however.

I tried it once. I liked the idea of not running out of arrows.

On the other hand, the battle starts immediately with no opportunity to deploy what you want where you want it. In other words, archers stand uselessly on the street while the enemy army marches around the corner of the wall, where normally I can whittle the enemy army down by 20%. Also, while the battle is going on, you have to march your units to where they will be useful. You cannot position them to the formations you wish before "start battle" is implemented.

I'll stick with the timer, and remount and reload between turns.

No arcade for me. I prefer it if the enemy (Egyptians :) run out of arrows. If you don't, you have wasted that unit of peasants you sent to go and eat the missiles.

what you say is correct,i just dun want to killing my enemy that keep routing.

Since you say that,i think the unlimited arrow is what i need to concern right now...mmmm...:juggle2:

Hi,
You can play a mis-match of the features from arcade mode and the features from a normal battle by going into your "...Rome - Total War\preferences\preference.txt". In that great file you will find many amazing options which can change many aspects of your R:TW playing experience - the ones mentioned below, are, however, the ones that you will be most interested in in for playing about with arcade mode. To turn an option off, change "TRUE" to "FALSE" or, to turn it on again, change "FALSE" to "TRUE"

MORALE - turns morale on or off for non-arcade battles (for arcade battles this is off automatically).
FATIGUE - turns fatigue, whether men tire or not, on or off for non-arcade battles (for arcade battles this is off automatically).
LIMITED_AMMO - turns unlimited ammunition on or off for non-arcade battles (for arcade battle this is off automatically).

Unfortunately, for these options to work you must not play with arcade mode on or they will be reset to the default settings that come with the arcade mode system.

Hope this helps you, cheers!

Arcade changes the game for sure.

Occasionally arcade is played in multiplayer. Sometimes by mistake, sometimes by design.

Unlimited pila for romans...unlimited heads for head hurlers etc etc. Who can run the fastest and not run out of puff...Brits.

I dont play it, but love the concept of Arcade Mode;

Standing around Southend Beachfront slamming £1 coins into the slots as your mates stand around yelling - get the Egyption Chariots, come on you muppet, my mum could take over the world better than that,

as the sun goes down over the pebble beach and all the Essex boys get out their 'pimped out' Ford Fiesta's, you finally take down the Egyptian family member to roars of approval by your standing, applauding fans.

ahhh saturday nights playing RTW Arcade.
