I am looking into the possibilities of removing the night battles from BI (simple enough) but leaving the torches in-game (probably not possible).

Failing this, I am looking to keep night battles but then I would need to 1. replace the night sky (anyone know how that is done, seems different from clouds?) and 2. keep night battles permanently switched on rather than an option (probably also impossible).

At least #1 must be possible if I can find the file/imagery.

So far as I know the only thing you need to do to remove night battles is remove the trait NightBattleCapable from the game. The option (checkbox) to start a night battle will still be there but since no one will have the NightBattleCapable trait they will not be able to start a night battle.

You can remove it with the bi options in the DS file - that's not what my query was about though.

It may still be possible to have torches in the game even if night battles are removed as another daytime called sunset(which comes after evening) also uses torches. I believe that night sky images etc are hardcoded as I havent been able to find them and have been wanting to edit these myself for some time now as night skies are awful

I've been fiddling with this as well for slightly different reasons. I can see that sunset (and sunrise?) in custom battles uses torches, and I can change the daytypes so that campaign battle uses sunset settings.

by deleting out intermediate ones for a climate and changing start time, but I haven't yet been able to get torches to appear in campaign map battle without it thinking leader is in charge of night battle. Any idea what other files are involved in this?
