View Full Version : Couple of unit questions?

I've recently "finished" a Danish campaign. Finished as in I achieved enough of my personal goals that I couldn't bear to go on through the end-game malaise.

I've decided that my absolutely favorite infantryman has to be the Obudshaer. Bonus vs. Armor, bonus vs. Cavalry, and they can hold one hell of a spear wall. Good units for defense, assault, and anything else that involves killing something. Should I be concerned that this is a bug? It doesn't seem like anyone else has anything that can compare to these brutes in a toe-to-toe fight (infantry wise).

As the Russians, how do I get the Gulay Gorod? I'm not able to find them in either the City or the Castle building guide in the game. Are they a multiplayer only unit or something? They look absolutely brutal with their 14 point armor-piercing steel crossbow bolts. :)

Thanks!

the Gulay Gorod is MP only AFAIK unless modded in...

I assume you're playing 1.1. They don't suffer srom shield or 2H bug hence they are bit too uber just like JHI. They are horribly slow-moving tho crossbow magnets

The Gulay Gorod were left out of the game in the end. They were intended to be one of the "war wagon" units, where the unit could deploy a defensive circle of wagons, firing from the inside under their protection.

That being said, their information is readily available in the text files for the units. Through a little modding, you can make them available in custom battles and in a campaign, but they will just be a crossbow unit and not have any war wagons.

I'm playing 1.1 with Carl's bugfix.

I know, they wilt fairly quickly under crossbow or longbow fire. Damn English really can screw up a decent spearwall. I just make it deeper for them though.

Too bad about the Gulay Gorod though. Oh well.

Oh, that is why the obudashers are actually half decent. Without the 2 handed bug fix, they are just simply awful and get easily beaten by units worth half of the money needed to train one unit of obudashers

They were never affected by the 2H bug.
