I'm not really sure what I'm doing, I'm new to the whole editing txt files for game thing. :sweatdrop:

I've made a backup copy of my descr_unit file, and renamed the geography files so the game can't read them.

I'm just testing stuff for now, and I'm wondering how to do something easy like... change the Town Militia's HP to 10, or adding like 20 total armor. For some reason when I test the units they don't seem to have changed much, and it doesn't show change on the unit card. Is there some other file I needed to be editing as well? Also where do I change the speed of the unit, I can't seem to find it.

Any help would be nice. :beam:

Did you create a new batch file with --io.file_first as a parameter as described in the unpacker readme?
The unit movement speed is in descr_battle_map_movement_modifiers.txt (if that's what you're looking for)

Uhh, you mean make a txt file, put medieval2.exe --io.file_first in the first line, then rename it something ending in .bat? yes I did that, and I still see no change on the unit card. I'm changing the line ";unit_info X,Y,Z" as well as the armor or other stats line.

Well the fact that you don't see the changes means the process didn't work.
You are running the game through the .bat file?
You could also try setting up a mod folder...

Or, you can add the io.file_first part to a desktop shortcut.

Like mine, "C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\medieval2.exe" --io.file_first
