E.B. multiplayer

Hi, I don't know if anyone else will be interested but I was thinking that prehaps a thread should be started for multiplayer custom battles. The idea would be that people would post in the thread if they feel like a battle and anyone else who was interested would either post there or P.M. them. This thread would include a downloadable map.rwm and instructions how to put it into a game and also the multiplayer edu.

At a later date I would hope to set up some sort of league table with every faction so that people can be assigned ranks and move up and down the table as they win and losse, and also the factions should be able to move.

hi I love MPs on mods RTR for one

although all Mods now seem to have no people playing muiltplayer on them and has been like this for along time :sweatdrop: to long :skull:

anyway I'm up for any muiltplayer although I don't think anything big will go ahead till 7.0 RTR is releasest as the group that played it seemed to give up for different reason e.g time it taking for RTR 7.0 to be releasest

but there's always hope and if you want a game sometime the best way to meet up is though X-fire a kind of msn but ment for games

Me. I'm intressed! I need to get a clean copy of EB first though. Anyone know if installing EB, again, in an "un-clean" copy would make it "clean". :juggle2:

You shouldn't need to, the eb multiplayer edu is stored in EB\mp custom game edu, IIRC the two edus are identical, just rename one of them EXPORT_descr_unit and place it in the EB\data (don't forget to back up your single player EDU)

Note. you can not play multiplayer on BI, if you are using BI and don't know how to run custom battles then just copy your EB shotrtcut and delete the -BI addition from RomeTW-BI.exe

Which one of the file should I use. RIght now I using the one namned export_descr_unit_mpcustom . Ill try and start a MP game. Anyone online, please go and check if you can join! If you can, join and we play. :)

In order to play eveyone needs to have an identical edu and map.rwm, I'll email mine to you, put it in \EB\Data\world\maps\base and then delete it when you want to play your singleplayer campaign again, (You shouldn't need to back it up as it will be regenrated when you play).

If we get this to work, we really need to start a MP-thread with rules and a map.rwm for download.

I hope people will find this intresting since MP really is the greatest part about rome. Once you get into it, you dont want to play any more camps, only MP! :yes:

I'll join if I have time. Tell me if you guys get it to work. Didn't 0.81a include a map.rwm? So sharing these should (I said should) not be necessary unless you modded your EB in the past.

I would also perhaps be interested in this, though I may need to reinstall Rome and patch it to a clean 1.5, but that's no big worry. Anyway doesen't EB include a custom battle EDU? One thing we should try is arranged battles, me and a friend tried this once with medieval II, its essentially just fighting a battle with a pre-set result and fighting it in a way so it will look good on replay, looking at historical battles and copying the tactics and deployment from there is a fun way to do it.

Do hamachi make it possible to play with cracked games? That might be good news for some.

I would assume that it would work with a cracked game, considering you don't have to log onto LameSpy to play.
But I wanna ask, is how do I disable/enable my primary network (and what is it? My internet connection?)

I think you'll need a unique CD key on the LAN too, so possibly you could only play against people who have a legit copy or find different pirated ones. But why not buy the game? It's not expensive anymore, and since you're obviously still playing and enjoying it, it should be worth paying those who made it.
