Firstly my thanks to Epistolary Richard for the original idea and implementation

His method recently posted allows you to play the first X turns automatically (or infact x turns at any time)

So I started as HRE and navigated to turn 96 automatically. Then I resumed the game but chose the weakest faction at that time. It was infact Scotland. They had 3 cities and were attacking the english, most towns were poorly developed, so it should be quite a challenge.

I peeked at turn 65 at the HRE and it had 10 provinces and was excommed, at turn 96 it was down to 5 but was one of the Popes buddies then, once again poorly developed cities.

(My quick conclusion regarding the ai is that it doesn't concentrate enough on building its cities economies, and also doesn't bribe the pope enough, key human strategies I think)

Cool. Can I have a link as to how to achieve this please ? Do you mean hotseat to the other faction ?

Thanks. How did you enable the enable the MP console ?

BTW this is a great idea for a game, it will be fun.

From that thread

"Have a look in your Medieval II Total War folder and you'll see a file called medieval2.preference.cfg - right click on this file and go to Edit and the file will open in Notepad.

Add the following three lines to the [multiplayer] section (which were originally posted here):

[multiplayer]
playable = true
hotseat_turns = true
hotseat_scroll = false

Then start a campaign as normal and select the faction you want to play as (remember to deselect any other factions additionally highlighted).

Launch the campaign and bring down the M2 console by pressing the ' key.

Type in:

control timurids
control the name of your faction

The game will then autopilot you - at any time, type:

control the name of your faction

again and the game will stop at your faction's next turn and give you control."

and further down I also did this

"OK I resolved it I just needed to add the command

disable_console = 0

to my .cfg file"

I forgot to mention , that all battles are autoresolve. Anyone that can fix that would make this a very useful variant of the game.
