As anyone else noticed that when you fight a major battle, Each side having full numbers, That the Battle is not logged "so to speak" upon the Campaign Map with that symbol "crossed swords" and the date, winner etc. In Rome any major battle was logged upon the map but in Medieval this does not seem to be the case, Ive seen it only on a couple of occasions and its really rare.

Does any good fellow upon this forum know how to change some kind of setting to allow the rate of memorable battles to increase on the map?

I hope someone understands me :dizzy2:

I don't see crossed swords for large battles, rather for heroic victories. As such, if I understand how it works correctly, you've got stomp your enemy into the ground taking light casualties to get one.

Thanks for correcting me, I never knew that before.

The only reason i said that was because the majority of the times in the past when ive seen this happen it was down to two full scale armies meeting eachother face to face, This was the only possible reason for me to think in that way.

I still think that on medieval its not as prolific as it was on Rome, And if there is a way of changing it, Increasing it, Please could you let me know.

It has to be a heroic victory...

maybe not more heroic victories as they need to be what they say they are but maybe heroic defeats to show when a number of units have a kill ratio of 5:1 or higher but the battle resulted in a defeat but paved the way for a future victory (kinda like the 300 story).

Such as when you hold all the bridges from the Mongols or that other elephant horde (forgot the name) but they eventually attack with 3 or 4 stacks if you are unlucky but are able to bottle them up so much on a bridge that they get slaughtered but because they just out number you so much that they eventually win despite taking heavy losses say about all stacks walk away with about 50% of what they had and maybe a dead general or two.

And maybe a little indicator that although nothing remarkable happened when a couple full stacks meet under a high command general it was still one big epic battle that should be noted in history.

But is it possible to get to that kind of after battle/turn script or is it in a off limits area

Just my 2cents

The only memorable battle I've had was a crushing Naval defeat to the Egyptians in my English campaign. 16 fully stocked gun holks vs 15 of their ships (which all had at least 2 silver chevrons). End result... I lost 16 ships, they lost none.

I started a new campaign with Scotland and realised that you dont have to have lower numbers that your opposition to gain a "Famous Battle" (sorry about title). I took my tartan army down to england and engaged an english army with around 200 more men, I cleaned the floor with them only taking around 100 casualites myself, After the battle the crossed swords appeared!

So ive come to conclusion that its not always a heroic battle (ie fewer numbers and a great win) to gain a memorial marker stone, Its just an amazing battle win where you indeed massacre your foes :laugh4:

You sure you did not get a heroic victory?

You used to get them all the time and then the requirement for a Heroic victory altered to include the battle odds. If the odds are in your favour then at best you get a clear victory...

However the odds calcuation for some troops can be a little odd, so you can have greater numbers and still have the odds against you...

yeah... you should have got a heroic victory on your battle... Whenever the battle results screen says heroic victory i have gotten the corssed-swords in the map. Never seen it appear for anything other that a heroic victory.
