We had to prune the list down a lot more this time as we had more entries than last month. The last spot on the ten entry roster was a tie, so we made just increased the entries to 11. Now it's your turn to vote and choose who wins out of these 11 entries. We will keep the poll open for a few days, maybe four or five should be enough, then we will announce the winner.

Sorry if your entry didn't make it though. Here are some tips to improving them for next time. These aren't rules, by any means, but they will most likely help the composition of your submission:
-Try to make sure there are no tooltip boxes visible.
-Try to clip off the GUI on the bottom of the screen also.
-Green arrows beneath the units don't look very good.
-Faction banners aren't so bad sometimes, but the winners and top choices seem to be the ones without them, so keep that in mind.

So here are your choices, in a fairly random order:

1. Death of a Nobleman

#4 is very good, my vote is for it. My only (very little) drawback against it, is that half of the ptolemaioi banner in the right misses the frame.

The only thing I really dislike about the rest of the photos, is the repeated motiv, about 4HP generals running away... in 3 pictures... even though they`re good captions...

I ensured my defeat by voting for The Fourth Battle for Mazaka 236 BC. I'll give my drawback for #4 when the winner is certain.

It was a difficult choice: Sheep's Seleukid General, or the Battle lines...

But my vote goes to 5). The way the pursuing horses are lined up compared to the generals body, and the fact that this sharp picture was taken at full speed, plus the sword thing...

6. Very touching.~:(

It was hard to choose between #4 and #8; I voted for #4, but #8 seems to have taken an overwhelming lead.

We had an internal vote to determine the top 10, though the tenth was tied so we included 11.

#8 has a ten vote lead so I can say this without, figuratively speaking, taking a dump on my doorstep. Two Bulls was copy/pasted through Paint, so you can almost count the pixels. Lesson to all, use something that is not Paint.

nahh my friend nahh.....I usually don't do this, but I can't let you lie to yourself like this.....

I know Paint ain't the fancies and best image-producing program out there. But that is not what made #8 have a 10pt lead.

#8 was simply a super well placed shot showing an entire battle. PLUS the angle, the order and chaos of the phalanxes fighting, the landscape, the troops covering that far away landscape, etc... made #8 have a 10pt lead over Two Bulls. Don't ge me wrong, 2 Bulls is AWESOME! but u can't blame its lack of preformance on Paint. :whip:

don't undervaluate the Paint conversion process from bmap to jpeg, sometime converting a picture in jpeg from Paint instead than PShop, you obtain a nice screen shot, a sort of "free" effect of that cheap paint program (pheraphs it could be the hight compression rate of the mspaint jpeg).
Best for me is to edit images in photoshop, and than convert them to .jpeg in mspaint.... :laugh4:

Yep, and Paint is easy to use for the not so gifted people doing Picture Editing.

I used Paint for cutting the UI, for the transformation to jpg I used Irfanview.

Btw, I made some real nice (real life now) pictures with a very basic camera. I think 80% of a picture is about the motif, and not about technique. ("Two Bulls" has a very good motif, too.~:))

Obelics

im agree, the motif and the capture angle is more important for me, and for cut and past mspaint is very fast, expecially if you open more than 2 session of it (cut from a session and past to another):2thumbsup:

I chose number 6. That picture really spoke to me. It... It touched me. And it gave me a fierce sense of pride, thinking of the Norwegian "Gutta på Skauen" ("Men in the Woods") fighting the Germans' claim for Norway's independence in World War II. Not to forget all the others who lost their lives, Axis or Allied, who lost their lives on foreign soil for no reason at all, other than some lunatic's thirst for power and domination.

One can forgive, but one must never forget.

Sorry, I got carried away. Entry #6 gets my vote, although the screen of the Battle of Mazaka was pretty epic and very good in its own right. All the pictures were of high quality, though. Good job this month.

^ Exactly my thoughts.

I voted for #8 because it's epic and intense.

Oh, I'm not saying #8 is better than #4 because of the quality. It's just something that hits MY eye each time I look at that pic. Artists always critisise their own work, it's trendy (as is pretending to be an artist). The birds eye view of the Mazaka pic is awesome and got my vote.

I know what you were saying, Thaatu, though I think you were too hard on your own. There were some amazing pics this month guys, I hope we put several of them up on the EB.com gallery.
