I need some help, I did my quick bit of internet research and wikipedia has failed me. About Hannibal, did he have children, was he even married at all? If so, what was his wife like, and what happened to her after Zama or did she die before? Help, I don't have the time to go out and get books for this one. Thanks.

Now I am not sure about this, but I think he had no wife or kids and had been involved in learning the arts of fighting with his father ever since he was a young lad.

I remember reading about an Iberian wife, who stayed behind when Hannibal went on campaign.

In the BBC 'movie-documentary' on Hannibal, he had an Iberian wife and if I remembered correctly she died whilst he was campaigning in Italy, but I'm not sure.

Hannibal Barca was married with Imilce, an Iberian princess (if she can be called like that), daughter of Illapan, a Baetis chieftain.

Helps? ~:)

Oh, I have to add, there is no SOLID historical proof about this.

Some say yes, some say no. If it is yes, he was named Hamilcar, just like Hannibal's father.

The Carthaginian upper class wasn't very creative when it came to names, was it ? Anyway, if a man in Hannibal's station lives as long as he did those days odds are he'll at the very least have a slew of more-or-less illegitimate offspring around the place whom nobody probably even bothers taking a note of. If he doesn't he's probably impotent, or an eunuch...
