I have made the modification that was in the froggbeasteags's guid that allowed me to play the nonplayable factions. In the campaign screen the banners appear as it should be, but when i try to select some of them (like Dacia, or Spain, etc) it results in immediate CTD.:furious3: Anyone has any ideas that could help me solve this problem?

Thanks allot!

The only thought that comes to my mind is: you must have done something wrong. I don't know what was written in that guide, but just make sure that you cut (not copy) the factions from the "unlockable" and "unplayable" sections and paste them in the "playable" part.

Hi ciprianrusu,
Sadly, a nasty bug introduced in version 1.3, causes an issue which disables a player from playing as any factions which do not have descriptions. To resolve this you, most unfortunately, must patch up to version 1.5 which can be found here (http://games.softpedia.com/get/Patch/Rome-Total-War-15-Patch.shtml) and then re-attempt the modification of the file. Hope this helps, cheers!

I forget to say that i have installed the BI and Alexander expansions. Does this prevent me from patching the 1.3 version to 1.5?

Hi again ciprianrusu,
Unfortunately, it does restrict what patch for R:TW you can download - it, sadly, disallows you from downloading 1.5 solo. However, you can still get 1.5, yet you have to install the 1.6 patch for BI at the same time. The two patches for R:TW and BI together in one file (1.5/1.6) can be located here (http://games.softpedia.com/get/Patch/Rome-Total-War-Barbarian-Invasion-16-Patch.shtml). Simply install it, and then, with any luck, you hopefully will be able to sucessfully change the file enabling you to play as all the factions. Hope this helps, cheers!

If you want a temporary solution, or don't want to install 1.5/1.6 for some reason, just add a campaign description for the factions you want to play as in campaign_descriptions.txt. Then you can play as them under 1.3 without crashing.

I downloaded the 1.6 patch, but i am currently very far into a campaign and i'm waiting to finish it before installing the patch. Until that i tried the solution proposed by barbarossa82 and it worked perfectly.
Thanks allot guys.

It sounds like you are kinda screwed. But I suggest reinstalling rome total war on your computer and use this to unlock all of the factions.

<yourdirectory>\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\descr_strat.txt

From there, just copy the faction names into playable, and your all set.

Hi and welcome Ozzman1O1!
In either your "C:/Program Files/Activision/Rome - Total War/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign" (standard edition) or "C:/Program Files/The Creative Assembly/Rome - Total War/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign" (Gold edition) directory, their should be a file known as "descr_strat.txt". Open it up and it should look like this:

All you have to do is change it to (the spaces at the front are tab keys):

Hopefully that change should enable you to play as all factions! Good luck, cheers!
