You know what I think? It's unbelievable ! Look at all the regions and all those factions. This will be awesome to play.
Salute !
Looks pretty good, Sinan! Can I ask what the name of the mod is?

Looks cool Sinan.
However in terms of gameplay there may be a little problem. The huge desert in Arabia, it might slow the game down immensly (huge number of turns needed to cross it). It is realistic however.

Quite interesting :applause:
May we post thoughts about distribution of forces? First look: Seljuks and Byzantium seem pretty big. I pity Georgia, can be insta-killed by Ghazni, same with Rajputs.
cool but can u tell a bit more on the mod like years and will thell be new units or just new factions?
Hi guys, thanks for the replies. Martok This is the Broken Crescent Mod, focusing on the conflict in the Middle East.
I can't really post in detail right now as I have stuff to finish
There are screens here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=88835
I've removed some of the other screenshots temporarily because of bandwidth issues. They've been widely viewed it seems ! Will repost when badnwidth is restored.

Highly recommend having a look there, check the map and location of Baghdad. OMG I can't wait to swoooop down on it.
Look at this:

The Khyber Pass, gateway to India. Site of countless massacres, interminable feuds, one of the most priceless pieces of strategic real estate in the world for more than a millenium.
MOUNT UP !!!
Very cool, Sinan. With mods like this, I might actually be tempted to buy the game for myself.
Slightly OT: Will Baghdad confer any special bonus on the faction that holds it? I'm just wondering if it will have special significance, like Rome was to the Catholics. :book:
Yes, I believe it will. You will be the CALIPH !
I will recheck that for you, for details.

The Khwarezm control the entire ocean!!! :laugh4:
Kidding aside, it looks fantastic. I'm becoming more and more facinated by middle eastern and Islamic history, so this would be cool to try out.
I find a lot of things impressive about this mod. BTW I'm not on the mod team.
The Seljuk Horse Archers will come in 2 varieties, close and regular bows.
The Regular bow can be used to pepper and harass, and has longer range.
The Close bow can be used when in close, for the kill. Higher damage.
You will have a tactical choice, longer range-lower damage or close range-higher damage. They will be two seperate units, but I'm hoping there will be some modification to make the standard Seljuk Turcoman Horse Archers have both bow types as special abilities. They will also be able to volley fire. Trouble is if I'm not mistaken you can only have 2 special abilities.
When I mean close, I mean this (image from vanilla):

Also I find this really cool: look at the number of factions, and there's still room for 10 more.
It will be the most detailed Middle Eastern combat simulation to date, from how it's looking now.
LOL ! The Khawrezm will, from what I understand be kind of homeless.
I'm sure their heavy cavalry and Persian archers can win many cities for them.
We should not overlook the Armenians and the Kingdom of Jerusalem, or the Georgians. They will be powerful enemies of the Islamics.

The models of new soldiers look especially impressive, looks like a very good mod right now, can't wait to play it once it comes out

you should go further east i think.
Looks tremendous all round. The modders are really what makes this such a good game.
I was wondering given the region, will you be able to recruit suicide bombers - kind of like napatha throwers who just don't throw? Or IED planters who can hide anywhere and lay napatha mines rather like a longbowman's stakes.....

Looks very interesting - nice map too (though the image is a little on the large side  ).
My only concern is that there are a large number of factions in a relatively small geographical area - are there going to be enough differences (culturally and/or via unit roster) between them to make them all stand out as individual and unique factions?
nice spoiler :)
how do you get editing the world map? is there a world editor? (sorry for this n00bish question)

I reckon it looks good. It might be a bit weird having a big desert in the middle of the map but sometimes it's good to try something different.
Well this map is a lot more "strategic" than vanilla. Arabian desert should really be impassable most of the year unless you have mega water supplies. So it will be impassable I think, for the most part. There are also a lot more choke points and valleys etc. Khyber Pass, Khunjerab Pass is there as well I think (northeast towards China). The valleys in the Caucaus should also be a lot more important for army movement, such as the valley between Ani and Yerevan.
There are a lot more rivers, which limit the movement of all cavalry armies. Anyway expect MASSIVE CAVALRY BATTLES, eastern style. Think Mongols and Timurids in vanilla.
Martok, being Caliph will bestow a large economic bonus (probably a piety one too ?). Will be a title for your King and will have various other bonuses which have not yet been detailed by the developers. Obviously this will only be applicaple to Islamic empires. If I hear something new I'll post. BTW Martok how come you did'nt buy the game yet ?
