Can you mode RTW to be able to recruit Generals like you can in BI?

Yes, as long as the unit in EDU has the "general_unit" attribute and it is recruitable in EDB, then it works.

I've done the same, make the first type of general available when a settlement reaches large_city and the second type at huge_city (unlike most people seem to think the 2nd general type is connected to huge_city, not the marian reforms, than again the marian reforms are connected to getting specific settlements to huge_city level so it doesnt make much of a diff.)
anyway one thing I'm wondering, still havent tested, is if the AI will recruit these generals or not??

Ok I'm new to trying to mod. I'm not trying to make drastic changes. I've looked over some of the files and have a basic understanding. I just want to tweak the game and like the Generals in BI but like the original campaign. What do you mean by unit in EDU and recruitable in EDB?
Thanks

OK I figured out what EDU and EDB are. I happened to notice the filenames and made the connection. Can you copy and paste the general units from BI to Rome?

Do you mean the model of the general himself or the unit type of bodyguard he has (or both)?

The ability to recruit generals like in BI. I was wondering if I copied and pasted the general units and associated them with buildings to train them would that work like BI or is there a code difference on how BI uses generals compared to Rome? I guess I'm thinking that if it was so easy to add recruitable generals how come CA didn't do it when they patched Rome on the release of BI.

Ok I've played around with it. I see that adding the bodyguard unit makes it available but that's just another cavalry unit. I guess the ability to actually recruit a general with ratings who acts like family members is hard coded. Unless I'm missing something.

there is a diff. yes ..
you have generals and you have generals who are also familymember ..
iirc getting a general ingame is pretty easy and can be done with about any unit afaik, getting a familymember ingame is like you said yourself hardcoded ...
(only familymembers we can get in game afaik are the ones you set up in the descr_strat file ..)
