Really Stupid Things You've Done As a Modder
(bad mods aside :embarassed: )
1. Click on a button and wonder why it does not work (or wonder why the game has become unresponsive) before you realize you are looking at a screenshot. Doh!

Wondering why my new music wasn't coming out of the speakers on the main menu; (took me hours to edit the sounds files!)
My Speakers were turned off!!

There is always the perpetual classic, making changes in a Rome - Total War folder and spending ages wondering why they don't take effect in the game....
....hint (check which folder the shortcut you are launching actually goes to  )
Luckily I've stopped just short of posting questions on that one....

That is something I do as well; so many different folders!
Asking everything in a part of when you ask why your mod doesnt work in a forum called The Guild, I think.I asked stupid things.Really stupid things.

Ah yes, don't remind me - I left a trail of destruction through DG's EDB discussion thread, one of which turned out to be forgetting to delete the map.rwm and other one nothing to do with buildings at all (think I managed to edit the last one out though before anyone spotted it)
I was not able to port a little damn map from RTW 1.2 to 1.5 and i am trying it at the moment for my mod too
I did something similar. I made changes in my back-up folder, and had to re-install RTW when I was done working on the mod. :P

Finding your HD space is running out so going on a cleaning spree and accidentally deleted, permanently, your work folder, losing all your photoshop skin files.
Do not be alarmed, that happened a long time ago!

Not making regular backups. I'm pretty sure any modder for any game has made this mistake at least once.

On the subject of maps; sometimes it's just the things you catch yourself thinking - like editing map_features and wondering if you can have a river and a cliff on the same square.....

at least once.
Oh come now, a least 3 to 4 times. Nobody learns from that mistake first time...
Working 2 mods at the same time.. My own personal and RTR.. While browsing my mod for reference to use in RTR, I accidently copied the add on files for RTR into my own personal mod.. :furious3:
The last back up files for my own mod was a month before.. Imagine how many have changes during a month.... :wall:

Shutting down computer after having mapped about 2 hours when suddenly realizing I forgot to make a single back-up or save. :inquisitive:
Clicking on a screenshot happenend to me too :idea2:
I took a Prnt/Scrn of an internet page and pasted it in Paint. But I completely forgot it and when I accidently opened it, I tried every button when suddenly realizing it's just a picture. :inquisitive:

Good to know it's not just me then ;)
I also have a habit of setting up battles with a view to saving them (battle replays) but forgetting to save them after an hour or so of getting things they way I want. Done it twice in a row once :(

I never clicked on a screenshot but there are times when I opened a screencap of RTW/mod in photoshop and moved the mouse pointer to the side of the screen because I wanted to turn the camera around :sweatdrop:
