I've been having absolutely horrible lag on my M2, the units move so slow, and they walk, but they sort of scoot instead, like they move like the game is skipping or something, the music is fine tho, I even set all video options to low and it still lags badly, I removed some programs including games with no change, can someone help?
1. ALT + TAB out of the game.
2. CTRL+ALT+DELETE
3. Check the Processes tab.
4. Sort by Mem Usage. Which one/s is/are taking most memory ?
5. Right click medieval2.exe in the processes tab and set priority to high (that you should do everytime you launch the game, once the game is running).
The main thing is to see what programs are using your memory. If that's not the issue, then we can move to hardware.
Does anyone have the link for latest version of Kill It All please ?

A probably better few questions to ask:
Campaign or battle map?
If battle, field or siege?
Has it occured pre-1.02?

it lags a little on the campaign map, and horribly on the battle map, and I've only installed one patch, and I believe that patch was the first one. field and siege, both lag real bad

processes tab?

Process tab = Task manager, processes tab.
Hmmm what unit sizes are you using this time around? Try scaling those down if it lags in field battles.
You can also have a look at my sig below to remove more sources of lag. Futher tweaking would be to lower your settings in the configuration, especially: v-sync, shadows, AA, visibility.
Of course the easiest thing you can try, if you can cope with lower graphics, you can turn your game settings down. And Faction Heir's idea is a very good idea for extra power behind your game. Do note that running anything on "High" will lag any other processes. So if you are running a messenger be sure to close it ( which will save a little more cpu usage ). Because if it is not closed and someone messages you it will likely lag your game for a few minutes due to M2TW being set to "High".
And keeping processes such as firefox or internet explorer open can tie up a lot of cpu usage if you are on a low end system. So keep programs like those closed while playing and you should experience a bit less lag.
Tschüß!

factionheir, I got to this:
descr_campfires_brasiers.txt
descr_chimney_smoke.txt
descr_structure_effects.txt
descr_torch_fire.txt
descr_engine_torch_effects.txt
descr_water_effects.txt
now, where do I paste that in the exe?

You only need to create a shortcut of your exe (select exe file, hold ctrl and drag it in the same folder or just right click the exe and select "create shortcut")
Then modify the shortcut's properties and do the addition to the target line as suggested in my tutorial. That basically will override any pack files with the files in your data folder if any are there, and as such remove the extra ambients. If you got problems with that, I suppose I could upload a shortcut somewhere (its really just 1kb)
If you could tell us what hardware you have, that could of course help as well because the problem may be hardware related if nothing else works.
Setting all the graphics to zero sounds very drastic to me.:sweatdrop:

Place them in your data folder as outlined in the tutorial. They will automatically be loaded by the shortcut. Note I only tested this for low settings, not for high settings. I think Sinan using high settings didn't get all aspects of this to work.
