Has anyone else noticed this in the blurb for the game......
"Trade and naval battles will present a new demension of player strategy: build galleys, caravels and fire galleys equipped with catapults, guns, and greek-fire to extend control into sea regions, letting you decide who gets to trade. Factions such as England and Italy will find themselves relying upon piracy and trade income as a source of revenue". Does this mean we can have naval as well as land based battles? It would be fun to have a naval battle http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

this topic has already been discussed. Do a search of the forum by typing naval. However, to my knology naval battles didn't really exit in the medieval times. Much of the ships where used for trading purpose and pirating. If you wan cannons on big ships you might have to wait till when Napoleon comes into play (next totalwar?) BTW: are there any webs out there regarding medieval naval battles?

I think we decided that it was only going to be represented on the strat map as they would need a naval engine really as well as the current one and they havent been in development long enough for it.

Her is the link to the thread but it's "dead" (no posting on it for more than a month).

The naval battles will be strat map only (in an IGN preview thay clearly stated tha it will be auto-calculated only).

I don't know if they will put some cut-scenes
