what is the highest records of profit from trades of ATHEN?
i am playing as Greek Cities now,i have all of the port cities that surround Athen,except Sardis.It belongs to my Seleucid Ally,it is ok,but that city still a town,it dun have a port yet.
So,without trades with Sardis,my Athen(my capitol)which is a huge city,got buildings:
(POPULATION=24802)
mines+1(silver),
irrigation,
merchant quarters(increase tradeable goods +5),
dockyard(increase tradeable goods +2,i just found out about dockyard have trade income bonus too!in export_descr_buildings file),
pantheon of Hermes(increase tradeable goods +5),
and a governor with retinues:
freeman clerk(1M=management,10%trade),
scribe(1M,10%trade),
goldsmith(10%trade),
numimatist(10%trade),
silk merchant(10%trade),
merchants(10%trade),
priest of hermes(1M,10%trade),
geographer(10%tax)
traits:
understanding of mathematics(1M,5%trade)
master traders(30%trade)
rarified tastes(15%trade)
then Athen's total income is:
trade=10509 Denarii
mining= 350 Denarii
taxes= 1318 Denarii
farms= 748 Denarii
totals=12925 Denarii(a sum without trade with Sardis)
Plus Wonder:
Colesseus of Rhodes
(Too bad ain't get Hanging Garden of Babylonia yet)
just curious how profittable this Athen can be?are there anyone got higher record?:yes:
or are there any port city got more profit than Athen?
i wonder if i played as Brutii and build Pantheon of Mercury(increase tradeable goods +5) and laftifundia(level 5 farming) in Athen,plus silk road of easterner faction(increase tradeable goods +4),how much Athen will eaarn?hah...

Wow, that was pretty good. Athens is probably the best city on the map for income - which is probably why the AI goes for it first thing. The most it has ever reached under me was something like 7682, you certainly got it flowing well!

Wow. A real money earner.
My Greek campaign was a swap game played with another player. We finished it, 50 regions, in the summer of 254BC.
Athens had:
- no governor
- 9969 people
- Trade 3744
- Mine 200
- Tax 1425
- Farm 748
Going to see what happened in other campaigns...will edit post in a minute....
Brutii ended in 249BC..trade 3431
Egypt ended in 253BC.. trade 2108
Seleucid (swap) ended in 201BC..trade 4939
Gaul ended in 258BC..trade 696
Huns..trade 1777
Nothing anywhere near that awesome total posted above.

freeman clerk(1M=management,10%trade),
scribe(1M,10%trade),
goldsmith(10%trade),
numimatist(10%trade),
silk merchant(10%trade),
merchants(10%trade),
priest of hermes(1M,10%trade),
treasurer(2M)
traits:
understanding of mathematics(1M,5%trade)
rarified tastes(15%trade)
(it lacks master trader traits,i will see if gonna get that traits in Athen...)
total skills:
managements=7
influence =2
Athen's total income:
admin= 1750 Denarii
trade=10167 Denarii
mining= 350 Denarii
taxes= 1236 Denarii
farms= 748 Denarii
totals=14251 Denarii(a sum still without trade with Sardis):2thumbsup:
expenses:
settlement army upkeep =3201(just the share,not the garrison's upkeep)
salaries of generals and agents=165
it is fun to see my capitol is full with gold and still counting(increasing):beam:
like the treasurer=for some,the pleasure of counting money can be enough....~D

I was very happy with 7230 denarii from Athens (which is a record for me) but after reading this post I somehow feel short changed LOL.

I mean what it says over the city while not in the settlement details, which I believe to be the income-all that stuff you said.

Hi,
I mean what it says over the city while not in the settlement details, which I believe to be the income-all that stuff you said.Technically speaking, the profit shown on the map is quite inaccurate due to military/family member upkeep. I, myself, find that it is better to just count the income and then subtract everything excluding the military upkeep and family member wages to get the income which the settlement is actually giving to the treasury.

I'm just doing this for comparison purposes because I have hit 7996 as the number. But Sciliy was taking most of the garrison responsibility losing 2-4 thousad each.

you ain't using peasant as garrison troops,right ?:sweatdrop:
you just need them to maintaining your public order(fire fight duties,avoid the crime etc),not defending your cities,so peasant is ok to me too:yes:
But if they are frontier cities,and i have no enough treasure to maintain high upkeep garrison troops,i will use town watch+archer+peasant for garrisoning duties....:shame:
you should know,the garrisons upkeep always the real expenses for non-romans faction(the roman can using monthly games and races=800 denarii to maintain the public order instead using 10 to 12 units peasant=1000 to 1200 denarii to do the job in those huge populations cities like Carthage for example.In order to get monthly games and races,you need to build arena and hippodrome in your city.)
note:monthly games and races can provide you 40% of happiness,imagine how it would help in those huge population cities.
so for non-romans faction,if there is others faction building like tavern/bardic circle/odeon/lycheum/theater/execution square/secret police network/arena/colleseum exist in your new conquer cities,don't destroy it,leave it alone,if there is culture penalty that bring down your public order that you are worry about,then take out other building first.The public order those buildings provided can save up a lot of denarii for you.(the culture penalty are count in % building in different culture per % buildings in your faction's culture,so leaving 1 different culture building sometimes doesn't give you culture penalty)

This thread has been the inspiration for my current campaign.
How high can you go. How high can Athens income be pushed.
Gross income some €17,000 with a net of €15,382. It will go higher yet as retinue are currently organised for maximum population growth. Once population peaks I will swap in the income retinue and see what Ive got.

Just look at all the little merchant ships on the sea lanes.
To be fair I need to say.....Ive spotted a little bug in this campaign. Have been exploiting that for some huge populations...Athens is nearing 50,000 people. Population is a factor of trade income. Its going to go higher yet. Maybe a 60,000 population is on the cards.
My generals are gaining some really bad traits.
The cash pile is growing at around 200K per turn. Bank manager is going to need a bigger vault.

It isnt Athens, but I once had Halicarnus make 16000 with the SPQR mod.
Athens was only making 6000.
