For the second time i have tried to take over this Korinthos city with Siege towers and the two times i had to abort cos the troops get jammed at the tower and dont go in. Anyone has had this problem cos i saw this in RTW and thought it had been solved by now.
thx
Don't know, but it's not an EB issue. You could try using ladders instead?

Also, you could just repeatedly stop/start the stuck troops. Just click on wall, stop, click again, etc. Eventually you get them all up, though it can be REAL annoying when 3 of 4 siege tower groups stick leaving the poor bastards who know wtf to do to get slaughtered.

Ladders? if the game gives u the option of siege towers then u should be able to use them properly so i guess that comment is a little goofy. As for pressing several times, that´s not a normal thing to do. I call that A BIG BUG THAT HASNT BEEN FIXED YET.

Are you referring to the siege tower bug that occurs in vanilla where at apparently random towers the soldiers will not enter the tower or only do so after several attempts?
I do not believe anyone has ever worked out exactly what causes this. The bug fixed docking distance reportedly had a small effect on improvement but nothing major. The conclusion - as I understand it - was to mod out large stone walls/ epic stone walls or to replace the medium and large tower with a modded smaller one. I have not personally tested the problem as far as large towers/epic walls are concerned but it happens every so often with medium/large stone walls.
I'm sure EB are aware of this.

The "not" function doesn't work properly in edb code either, and it should. It, like your tower problem, is not going to get fixed so there is no need for caps. Given that it is a known problem and there is no fixing it, I reckon that ladders are a good second choice.

My suggestion may look goofy to you, but it's still a valid workaround to a bug which is not ours. Trying to help. Often succeeding.

But....who would ever want to lose the protection and frontal-machine gunnage of a large/epic siege tower? :laugh4:
I really have no problem with it since even if I have a sizable portion jam I've never had ALL jam. And I've yet to lose a battle because of it; just taken extra casualties at times, which is well within my realm of acceptability.

has it ever occur to u that when u attack big fortresses or epic walls or whatever it is called, the ladder option has been GREYED OUT?

There are no epic walls in EB.
Simply put, this is a RTW bug, not an EB bug. There is nothing that can be done about it, ever.

Now let´s see how this goes. The EB has to be installed on a 1.5 version. Can we assume that many of the bugs ( not this one but others too cos i know this has nothing to do with EB and i´m sure this is part of what u call hardcoded part of the game) have been fixed on 1.6 and 1.9 version?.
Let´s assume they have, shouldnt EB have been made then for the 1.9 version then?
Now let´s assume they havent, so multiple patches for this game have been released and many of the bugs still persist?
I just dont get it, and moderators are against any bashing against them. If i was one of these moderators, at this stage i would have to say, "hey take whatever is coming and roll with the punches cos they have all the rights to say it". Patch 1.2, 1.3, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.9 and still like this , i dont know if it is funny, aggravating or shocking.
i bought the game with the Alexander out and i cant imagine what this game was like when it came out, poor those of u who played the vanilla version.
Get this: THIS BUG IS NOT BECAUSE OF EB. Go pester Creative Assembly if you want. They're the ones who could fix the bug if they chose to. They'll ignore you, because it's a minor bug, experienced by few, easily worked around, and the game is ancient history to them (pun intended).
You can try 1.6 if you like, a lot of people get it to work fine. EB is made for Rome Total War, not the expansions. Enjoyment is not compulsory.

And u get this LEARN HOW TO READ BEFORE POSTING ANYTHING cos if u knew how to do it then u could see that i said i knew IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH EB AND THAT IS NOT ALSO THIS BUG BUT MANY OTHERS.
Touché, I did not catch that sentence inside your post, I got hung up on the suggestion that EB move to the Alexander expansion and your sarcastic tone throughout this thread. I apologize for reacting with exasperation when you did in fact concede the point.
Bugs are expensive to remove. They require many hours of searching for the error. Any commercial venture will only remove those bugs that are bad enough to be cost-effective to do something with. CA have removed the major bugs. What is left is stuff that they themselves don't use (a fact which is a great obstacle for modders who would want to use it, but nothing they are obligated to support), or affects too few people or in such a small way that it will not affect their sales of the game or their reputation very much, like your problem. Also, they will not get much revenue from RTW anymore, as it's old and superceded by M2TW.
The fact that so many have bought RTW, BI and M2TW is proof that the bugs in their products have not been enough to lose faith in them. They have thus made sound financial judgements.
I had this bug. Had to click about 20 times to get soldiers on the wall. Got em all there finally. Now have tired fingers.

Let´s look at why people buy this despite previous crap (in terms of bugs of course).
It is a topic that many folks like and i assume many guys thought that M2TW wouldnt be like RTW cos MAYBE they would have learned the lesson but apparently they didnt. What does RTW and M2TW have in common? BUG LAND.
Now what have they done with the M2TW?, they have thrown people a bone so they can get entertained. Hey here u have a cinematic editor and something else just to get your mind off the real deal.
I dont know why we keep getting things which eventually we know they are not gonna work 100%. I think all guys should punish them and not buy the M2TW expansion BUT like i said, many are bored and are looking for something new and it´s afordable so.................
Doest matter how many TW they make, we´ll probably get them like dopes we are ( and i count myself there huh).
Hmm... I was disappointed with M2TW myself, but only because of the poor AI and that EB is excellent, IMO better than M2TW. M2TW has a lot of improvements over RTW. I haven't tried the 1.2 patch yet, maybe AI has improved too. The most damaging bugs were removed in the first patch, like the game hanging when the AI tried to move all his troops up on the walls.
M2TW is not alone in having bugs at release time. It is true of pretty much any PC game more complex than Bejeweled released since the obiquity (sp?) of internet. So why do developers release buggy products? Because it recoups some of their invested money earlier than otherwise. Also they see how good sales are, which sets the level of support provided for the game. If the sales are next to nothing, there would be no reason to release any patches. Betatesting costs as much wages per day as development time, and likely more. Knowledge of market reception is paramount.
Anyway, end users have proven time and time again that they will accept buggy products rather than wait for a long time to get it. Even you. I didn't buy Alexander myself because I believed the extra content would be irrelevant when M2TW came out, but not out of fear it would be buggy. So why shouldn't they?
Anyway, your report is answered.

We do allow criticism, witness the many R:TW bug and suggestion threads, but we want people to be constructive about it. Simply posting "CA sucks" is unlikely to make them take notice, but a detailed bug report or a constructive suggestion for improvement is. Anyway, I disagree that R:TW is a bugfest just because siege towers don't always work. Show me a recent game that is without bugs.

This was the most recent game I could find (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/113720) without bugs.

Nah, Blacksnail, there's a bug in that one. I've tested it against various opponents of varying difficulty levels and they always all beat me. Must be a bug!

That tower siege bugs looks like a path finding problem due to the up rise slope of the siege tower entrance. The small city siege tower doesn't have a slope the soldiers have to climb first, so when they bunch up, nothing bad happens.
Any fix would add in new tower graphics, which may not even be possible.
