Great news fellow orgers, those among us who live in the US of A have a brand new reason to celebrate- a vital blow has been struck by the authorities in their war against terror:
Matt Boyd, co-creator of the online strip Three Panel Soul, ran into a spot of trouble recently.
He was working as a contractor for a branch of the government. He made the mistake of being interested in the hobby of paper target shooting at about the same time as the VA Tech shootings and talking to someone about this hobby at work. Keep in mind he wasn’t even talking about those shootings, in fact he was discussing how he wanted a gun which would make it difficult to kill someone.
He was promptly fired and not allowed back to work because people were scared of him.
To top it all off, he was later visited by police detectives for making a comic about his experience, because it was a “borderline terroristic threat.” (Is “terroristic” even a word?)
link to the offending comic:

What next indeed, at this rate using this definition of terroristic threats we should be expecting a wave of arrests through the org, esp those members who keep inquiring about how to conduct a sucessful jihad.:laugh4:
So now anyone who talks of even thinking about buying a low-powered,single-shot firearm suddenly becomes A Menace To All Around Him.By the way, for the record he was considering to purchase a 22 bolt-action rifle.

Banqou's Ghost would be in deep trouble after his "give me 20 guys and I can terrorise the US for 6 months"-statement...:laugh4:
Seriously though, this is simply hysterical. I doubt anyone who are looking to go on a killing spree would bring a bolt-action rifle. And what happened to the "freedom of speech"-thingy?

So for those of us who already own multiple firearms, are we still good law abiding citizens adhereing to our constitutional rights? I mean this is just for those who are making new purchases right :laugh4:

That comic is teh funny.
But surely this must violate some law or other? I mean, there isn't much point having the right to bear arms, if other people have the right to sack you as a result?

Don't worry, they are being very good to me and Kazakhstan is lovely and warm. I never knew it had palm trees.
I get my hair washed every morning (the Kazakh way is a little hard on the lungs, but I'm trying to adapt to local custom) and a rough but effective manicure twice a week. I get to use one of those electrical gadgets that one wires up to one's bits to firm up the abdominals. Doesn't really work though.
Spookily, orange also happens to be my colour.
Oh, Sergeant Crusher tells me I'm allowed to say:

I agree, it should be an automatic, or at least semi-automatic :skull: :laugh4:

Oh, c'mon, EA, don't pretend you've been asleep these last 5 years, 'cause I just know it ain't true - I've seen you post squid threads :2thumbsup:
So you gotta know that the War on Terror (tm) trumps any and every other law, right or freedom. So why do you hate freedom, anyway ?

Thanks for the welcome Banquo's Ghost
The real issue here is not gun possesion, but the degree to which individual rights may be subverted or disregarded in the cause of the greater good of the majority. That is the eternal quest for the good is which brings the greatest happiness to the greatest number of people, which is fine as long as it is not your rights which are being infringed upon in this process.
By the way if I were hypothetically planning to go postal, I would definately not carry around a pea shooter such as the .22 bolt action that poor Matt Boyd was planning to purchase. My preference would be for:
a. A semi-automatic carbine such as the survival version of the m-16
b. A pump action shotgun
c. A high powered bolt action rifle, preferably a .458
d. A brace of automatic 9mm handguns preference given to the Beretta 92s.

If its not the size of a submarine, with ten tentacles and a razor sharp beak, just how terrifying can it be?
