Can't run on my computer!

Every time I try to run this on my computer, I get as far as the intro screen that is shown just before the opening cinematic, but then the game just closes.

I have seen screenshots of this game and I REALLY want to play it.

Well, if you can play RTW vanilla you should at least be able to play EB - even if it is with all the settings turned down. You probably have a corrupt install of the game.

I would uninstall EB and RTW, defragment your hard drive, then re-install RTW with the appropriate patches, and then install EB..

If that doesnt work you can download EB once more.Maybe this is where your problem is

actually i have rome total war gold, but I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it is the same.

You didn't say if you downloaded it again. You could have a corrupt download of EB, please try to do so and install in a clean 1.5 directory.
