umm if u had mods installed earlier make sure that once you uninstall M2 that u manually delete the M2 folder as well. and then do a fresh install.
before you do that did you try a new campaign other than the one you are having problems with?
Make sure you deleted all related files.
Assumming that you didn't have any Mods installed,
and that you did delete the MTW2 game folder before reinstalling.
Can you remember how long approximately the patch took to download and how long to install. I wonder if you have a corrupt download or if the installation failed before completion.
Also related to that question, what Anti-virus software are you using and did you leave it running during the install. In the past I've certainly had interference from Norton AV during installs and downloads.

Please also verify which patch you are trying to install. As far as I've been informed there is no 2.1 patch. The latest patch is 1.2. What you need to do to get that patch installed is a bit more than installing the 1.1 patch. I'm guessing your patch problem also converted the 'ease' in your thread title into the 'z' we see and forced it into all caps.
Also please let us know if you have done a clean install of Medieval Total War 2 into an empty directory before patching. If you have patched your version to 1.1 and you are trying to upgrade that there have been some posts of problems.

I assumed that was just finger trouble and he meant 1.2. Presumably, it would be impossible to download a 2.1 patch unless one existed, though the source of the 1.2 patch might be important. I was careful to stick to the official and trusted site when I dl'd mine.
The other possibility is that he has posted his query to the wrong forum and that he is talking about MTW not MTW2. Not sure what patch level MTW has reached.

Umm! if your seeing capital letters and 'z' instead of 'ease' in the opening post I think the problem might be your end. There's nothing weird about sike49's opening post on my PC.
Are you using a no cd crack, mod, or any other modification to the game files (after installation)?
Did you install on the 1.1 patch?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, your installation likely failed.
You should reinstall m2tw and start again, patching straight to 1.2

Oh! Rite, soz didn't twig. Gratz for the expo:smash:
Incidently, he's gone very quiet. Do you think he's sorted it out and is too busy playing the game to let us know, or given up.

Didz,
My hope is that he has discovered what is giving him his problems and has resolved them. I have often noted that once a problem is resolved, the one seeking a solution oft goes quiet because they can get on with what they were doing. In this case my guess is he is busy taking over most of Europe right about now.
As to the missing letters, I think most people use too much l33t and TLAs in their online posts. This can make it hard to understand for anyone who is not fluent with their dialect. As such I tend to encourage people to use complete words and sentences. It avoids misunderstandings and allows everyone to enjoy the conversation. This can be important when DFK is an accepted acronym and PLZ could be the same thing in another language.
NOTE: l33t is for 'Leet', a set of abbreviations and letter replacements often found in online gaming communities. TLA stand for "Three Letter Acronym".
As we are not being charged by character count as most cell phones in the US do for text messages, I think we can afford to use entire words without dropping or replacing letters.
John,
Yes, I realized once Sapi explained that this was the point you were trying to make and despite my lame attempt at humour in the previous post I do sympathise with you view.
I sometimes get caught out by these abbreviations, and they can delay ones understanding of what the writer is trying to say by forcing you from read to investigation mode.
The ones that always catch me out are:
'OP' - I hate this one as I know it means 'Opening Post' but I always read it as 'Observation Post' on first pass and have to correct myself.
'DFK' - 'Dismounted Feudal Knights' but it always takes me ages to remember that, for some reason I always associate this abbreviation with Dvor Archers.
Thats why like you I try and use the complete text even laboriously typing Mercenary Crossbowmen every time rather than MXC, MC or MXbowmen.
Like you say not everyone on this board is communicating in their primary language so it a matter of consideration, but even those like me who are can find the abbreviations confusing.
Yeah, we do need a list of abbreviations specially those for units.
