i don't think that will apply to anyone. i think an army of teutonic knights could be quite a scary sight for the enemy. or the black sky of english arrows.

My guess is that there will be a lot of different very powerful nations depending of the time period, 400 years = technological advances.....
As for this thread, the last couple of posts in the invicible army thread seems that it is going nowhere. Furthermore, the discussion seems to be revolving around longbows and not what Country in the medieval game will be most powerful.

You asked... so you shall receive!
Everybody knows that people strive for salt. Salt changed the world. It preserves food. Its a spice!
Well... salt MAKES the saltine, the quintessential cracker. This delectable treat, so simple it is making, had a profound impact on the world.
Sodium typically makes up salt -- sodium cloride. But the term "salt" also refers to many substances, not just what we know as table salt. One such substance would be bi-sodium carbonitrite.
The Byzantines were rich because they controlled the salt. They WERE the salt. That is why they have their name... Byzantine really means, in old latin, Bi-Saltine... it is a reference to a mineral salted cracker.
And that is why the Byzantines will win. Everybody wants the tasty crackers.
Why are the Turks so peaceful in that hell hole of the Middle East they are in the middle of? They have their OWN saltines!

Very interesting point.
I wonder how they will show the Normans, I would imagine at the Beginning of the game, they will be the strongest faction (If they show them as a faction) - You have England, Parts of Southern Italy and parts of Northern France. However, my guess is they wont show this as a single faction, but three independant areas.
By the end of the game, I would imagine it will be the turks.

Actually a lot. Salt was the Oil of the Medieval ages.
Also salting food preserves it for those lovely long marches and seiges.

Well, I think the answer is easy. I respectively, my clanmates from Elite Force will have the most powerful armies to field. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif Even the chemical Bi-saltines will waver at our sight. And even the wet arqueys will run home.
