Its almost confirmed!!!A moderater at the .com tested it out and got the same result..looking for others to test it now...my latest post :

Oh boy!!!Here's more findings...The custom battle i posted isnt reliable either...LOL

Updated crash criteria:
- 2 AI armies
-Siege battles
-Settlement/castles with wooden defences
-AI army uses firing siege equipment
-AI army attacks towers that are under control either by you or the other AI!!!
-The AI army firing the siege weapon havent moved their infantry yet.

6 criterias now. In testsiegebug.cbx i gave scots like 4 or 5 units...at times after a single wall was breached they sometimes rushed their units in. The crash didnt happen when they attack the towers after they rushed their infantry in.

New custom battle :
http://files.filefront.com//;7548015;/

In this siege move the english army closest to the spanish line during deployment phase..this is to avoid enemy units from moving to the english side...unrestrict camera and just observe the spanish army..wait till a tower that is in control by the scots get attacked...the six criterias have to be fulfilled to crash...there is some random element in the AI decision so if they move in after a wall breach its not gonna happen..You have to wait for the AI to do things like i said..And wait a while more as at times it doesnt crash immediately the towers are attacked..this is especially if the tower was not in control when it was first attacked..but it will crash...just check it out.

Yes I have the same problem, and started a thread on this last week. It didn't get much attention, so I assume that few people are having this crash problem. For me it makes the game essentially not playable. What fun is a total war game without the battles?

My crashes mostly happened during seige battles, but I'm pretty sure I suffered a crash during a few field battles as well.

If anyone can provide any suggestions, it would be most appreciated.

Pechorin,
The 'bug' i discovered is different from the problem you are facing. Mine is particularly in this specific situation described above. It could very well be another crash siege bug...a rather obscure one but nevertheless there is a probability(low one for now) of people playing the campaign game to experience it.

this is what i was saying before certain siege battles just always crash no matter what but sometimes others are fine i posted and gave details of what almost always seemed to be constant factors in the crashes but never got any attention either

Are your crashes like the video i did? Its not crashes before the battle itself but during it.Ayway for us to test it u need to give me more details. I'd be willing to test it for you...

I thought I was the only one! I've been keeping my drivers up to date and all that. Still get random crashes most often during sieges. This completely takes the fun out of the game - not knowing when you might win a brilliant victory only to watch it erased by a black screen. :furious3:

I just had a CTD (unexplained error) with this same scenario fitting all the criteria except the wooden walls. Attacking Adana as England, with stone walls, with me + an AI army against the defending AI Timurids, it went quite far along until the AI ally shot its siege weapons at a tower on the innermost keep of three. Then crash.

Hmmmm...Interesting...Im quite sure i remembered my game didn't crash on stone walls...i tested it out...let me recheck it to be certain...
