The replay feature seesm to be less reliable in 1.20. Out of about 9 times I tried this evening, not a SINGLE one has worked.
Considering that the other replay I did and posted (and THANKS to those of you who helped out), worked on others machines. It seems that it can work. But underwhat circumstances can it work ? I really wish someone could sort this out, I mean somebody's GOT to know why this thing does'nt work and under what conditions it does work.

On a more positive note, the AI SEEMS to be more intelligent now, at least in part.
In all 9 battles, for one thing, the AI kept it's archers close to it's battle line, for a while.

EDITED: RANT !

I am really sick and tired of trying to get this thing to work. Man it is draining.... And just BTW it is WORSE in 1.20. MUCH WORSE. Out of about 8 times I tried this evening, not a SINGLE one has worked.

:dizzy2: :dizzy2: :dizzy2:

All I want is one PERFECT All Cavalry Combined Arms Replay.
I meticulously wiped out 1000 men per battle almost always perfectly but alas have to start all over again. Does anyone know how to fix this ?

:help:

I tried doing the campaign battle replay save for the first time today. I tried to replay it, and it first gave me an error message, but then loaded it anyway.

It was my depleted Russian force taking on a full stack of Mongols at a river ford, which I ended up destroying them with half the numbers. I wanted to save that one.

Anyway, once the replay started, to my surprise, THE MONGOLS HAD A REINFORCEMENT STACK. Where the HECK did that come from?

Anyway, it was a horrible mess, as can be expected, when a replay gives the Mongols two times the numbers that were actually at the battle. The whole thing is pathetic from what I can see.

I know it's extremely frustrating. Thing is I'm sure it can be fixed. It works sometimes, then if we are able to deduce what conditions allow it to work, bang ! we have it. I wish we could have something definitive from CA on this, at least a clue.

BTW are you playing vanilla 1.20 ?

Yeah. The next time I play I'll right down the error message it gives me. I still have NO CLUE how the battle replay gave a reinforcement stack to the Mongols...

The campaign replay can also crash (freeze- so you have to hard reboot), so at least it actually loaded. I know that's not a huge achievement. This also seems to be new in 1.20, at least I don't recall it happening in 1.10. Theoretically there should be no difference between 1.10+1.20 since they did not touch this feature AFAIK.

The feature is IN. It's on the menu, it needs to work.

Maybe the first time around they were delayed but you missed/didn't get the info card ?

Nope. The pre-battle screen only showed one army. They came to me, and they didn't move any other armies. How they came up with the data for the extra one is beyond me.

So I edited my rant, had a coffee and I did one more. Number 9: 8vs8, it failed as well. In 1.10 I knew that at least if you keep at max 11 vs 20 it would work most of the time with some exceptions. Now it's not the case.

the only thing I can think of is that in epic battles it would be extremely hard to write down where every single unit went what it did what it killed etc, so I don't know how they record the information but that would be a hell of a lot of information to record.

It should work though.

It's not an excuse:

In Supreme Commander; where the distances are much greater and the unit count is not only bigger but where each and every unit (not battalion like here) can be given SEPERATE orders replays are so standard and of such a 'democratic' size that their GPGnet service offers you to store them online after each and every multiplayer game you play heh.

I can't help but wonder if the accuracy of the battle reports is at all dependent upon the length of the battle report. Are the long, 20-unit-a-side battles tending to be less likely to be reproduced successfully than the short rebel-against-three units of cavalry skirmishes? From what I've seen so far, yes. Anyone want to test that or do I have to subject the world to a bunch of really, really awful battle replays showing off my total lack of skill?:sweatdrop:
