View Full Version : strategic units in battle
I was just thinking about the dislike some people have for Battlefield Ninjas in STW, and wondering if it would have been a better option to allow use of the normal, single-man ninjas in battle. They could hide, at some risk, awaiting a chance to remove a rival. Further, shinobis could hide in forward positions gathering early info on the enemy army - honour, armour upgrades, taisho's rating, etc - and emissaries could go forward with a white flag to request a ceasefire (to gather one's dead or whatever), to say 'you can't beat me, why not give up now?' or to say 'here's lots of gold, how about switching sides?'
- so, how about these possibilities in MTW with the equivalent units?

well 'diplomatic' aspects of the game will not in and IMO will never be decided on the battlefield proper. as to specialist units there are supposed to be more of them in MTW. although i doubt whether they will all feature on the battlefield( scientists, witches etc.)

Fair enough, just thinking aloud. Although it wasn't grand-scale diplomacy I had in mind, just some scope for strategic units corresponding to some of what really went on, the emissary possibilities in particular.

A herald would be interesting. Without them you can't properly identify the opposing units apart from type... ie in Shogun you would see a unit with 12 banners but does that mean 12 honour or they are just doing a Mardi Grai parade (sp)
