Q21. The STW and MI/WE upgrades and honour system has been heavily debated TW forum and in the Sword Dojo. While in Single Player these make sense, as in the campaign they are the result of unit and/or building development, online they ruin things as they allow for cheap 'super units'. The H9 Ashi is a pain in the neck. Will MTW rely on a similar system, and if so, will you please consider limiting the number of upgrades available to a single unit for online play?
A21. Yes. We are looking at changing the costs of Honour upgrades and capping them to make this more balanced for multiplayer. We are also looking at other changes such as increasing the cost of additional units if you buy large numbers of a single type of unit.
Q22. Will MP campaigns ever be supported?
A22. Not in Medieval: Total War.
Q23. In the Mongol map editor, designers were forced to deal with set deployment zones for all maps. These deployment zones did not allow for participants to take advantage of almost 1/3 of the terrain on a large map (which apparently will be the standard size map for MAW). Will the community map designers have more flexibility incorporated into the deployment zones with the MTW editor. In other words, will we be able to set the deployment zones ourselves, or will they at least be spaced based on map size?
A23. They are scaled with the map size.
Q24. Assuming that Medieval will only allow a maximum of 8 players in an online battle (as per Shogun), will those 8 players be able to choose any of the 12 playable factions, or will there be restrictions to the number of playable factions in a given online battle due to graphical issues (as was disproved for Mongol's but may be valid here)?
A24. Any player will be able to choose any army.
Q25. Can you carry forth siege weapons, like cannon and catapults to bombard troops in non-siege battles? Or, in other words, can I take cannons to blast away at the enemy when I attack a province whether there is a castle or not?
A25. Absolutely. Cannon balls bounce on the terrain and can tear through a formation of men causing casualties and putting their morale to the test. Just remember that cannons can explode and kill the crew too!
