thats my idea...
we should have some trustworthy player wich become gamemasters, with some rigths...

example....they can close accounts for some days...

they can make others quite, so he cant write anything....

or they can make that u cant create a game, just join others...

i think we have to do something against this "kids"...always i come online i see the same guys use theyr "nice language"... if some newbies come online they must think thats the normal bahavior of our community...

i think we have to reakt hard and fast...

this ignore button isnt enoght!!

this situation isnt acceptable, just a few make this trouble and other think thats normal and do the same...

I volunteer, I've got cable, many free time, respect for other people, and as one of the Eldar race I can hardly be corrupted by power (ok delete the last sentence or you'll think I'm nuts http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif).
no really,

I agree and volunteer.

This situation reminds me very much of kids today and their lack of respect. Alot of these kids have no discipline taught at home, therefore they have no respect for others in the wider community.
How I relate this is the Bad language should be stopped by clan leaders (for those in a clan)
This always worked for me while Daimyo of the Dreadmasters.
Whatever our faults were, while I was at the helm No member swore, flamed.
There were many times that we could have lost out tempers in the foyer, but we did not. Many other clans are like this too.
Any member found swearing for any reason will be ostricised.
I know not all are in clans but this is essentially a clan game. People that want to be in aclan will abide by this behaviour if they want to remain in a clan framework.
Clans should have a strict "NO SWEARING" policy that is upheld to the letter.
Those clans that don't, do not have any right to complain about others doing it.

Since when was Mithrandir of the Eldar?

Admins are ok but I wouldn't let community members do it. There are too many grudges etc and there isn't one person who doesn't have an enemy somewhere.....

Bots are the only answer.

Speak for your self SOUL old pal

We have no enemy's. - and I know I certainly dont have any

But I must agree something must be done about the problem the some bad people online. However, without having a moderator who is online all the time, this cant happen.

well damn, boromir, how the hell am i going to talk if i cant swear? ;)

i dont mind a little swearing; what bugs me is the chronic anti-social types that come in whose only intent is to disrupt, tear apart, invalidate, spam, wrech games and generally make life miserable for the rest of us. these types do exist and are often labeled inaccurately as 'kids'. that's not always the case. these types are not limited to age, gender, race, religious affilitation or anything else. they go thru their life in this state always. they are just plain anti-social in the truest sense of the word. they hate you, they hate me, they hate everyone. they'll be overt and covert and have certain traits and mannerisms that set them apart from 'normal' folks. hitler was a good example of this, but not all of thsee folks run a country or start wars and so on. they can be intelligent or dumb. intellect doesnt seem to play a part in it. there is no physical characteristic that marks them, so you cant just look at a crowd of people and say, oh, that one's anti-social. i can tell because of his 'whatever'.

we've one or two floating around here in the .org. these are the trouble makers, the riot starters, the merchants of chaos. and you also get a certain number of folks that are influenced by these folks and tend to take on for short periods of time the characteristics of these true anti-socials.

the good thing is that these folks are very few in number, thus the number of folks that they influence is limited also. when i spot one of these folks in the game i simply put them on ignore.

frankly, i like the admins here in the forums and i like the fact that they tend to shut off or shut down those folks that are ripping others up and so on. i think the admins here do an admirable job of keeping this place relatively safe for friendly communications. in the game, however, i'm not so sure moderators would be a good solution at all times.

what i'd prefer is rooms off the main forum where the host has moderator capabilities for that room. he could kick players out, ban folks from the room, yet leave the room open without a password. thus a clan could set up a room and own it. messaging between rooms would need to be added so that challenges could be issued and so forth or just open chats between rooms.

barring that, if admins were added to the multi game side of things, i'd prefer it were folks from DT/CA or activision and not players. you'd then also have to have a system of rules and enforcements and appeals and so on that could get to be rather tiresome for players, though i suppose some wouldnt mind. and, there's always the cry of nepotism, favoritism that crops up in these things that makes them obnoxious as well.

one other thing i'd like to have done with this is that if you stick someone on ignore that it doesnt just ignore THAT name, but ignores the account, so every new name the guy comes up with is also automatically put on ignore. some of these guys that are pests must have 100 names by now, as the last one gets ignored they just go make another name.

i used to play MUDS a lot and admin'd on a number of them and ran one of my own for a couple years. it always amazed me, while being on the admin side of things, how much politics was going on and what kinds of idiotic rules and so on that would be thought up to solve this or that situation. absolutely amazing. this is prolly why i'm a bit cautious about letting players admin in multi game arenas. i've seen it done pretty well, and i've seen it done REALLY badly. i'm not an advocate of absolute powers corrupts absolutley, but i have seen it happen. i've also seen it done quite the opposite as well.

im with k on this one.. player admins are a very bad idea... i can think of a thousand reasons not to have them but only 1 decent reason for them. i cant stand those bots either.. they dont know slang or how to tell ifd amn is a cuss word ors hit or any other word you want to ban... this means we need another solution for the problem.. and lets be frank, it is a problem. one solution could be the chat server itself. each time we log on we send the server our ignore list. if say more than 50% of the current players online have the same name on ignore than the chat server should boot them, or better yet, mute them. i like option #2 (muting) ...allow the player to host, join , and play games but not type http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
