I don't like the upgrades so what about :-
Weapons on/off
Armour on/off
You could even include honour from zero to whatever max.......Orda

what is it for? MP or SP? make small decrease in fatigue (i know you have made a thread for it Magyar http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif) for army on march, the maps are 4 times bigger. when the army reaches the centre of the map. they all going to be "quite tired".

It would be desirable to have as many controls as possible.
Perhaps what is in order here is a priority ranking of the possible controls, rather than a list.
Nice idea http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

bottom down krast...
first listing than priorizing them http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
but where are the mizus, i expect a full list from them so we can debate that....
i will copy paste their list into my first mesasage and hopefully the devs will stumble on them....

magy,
blow in my ear and i'll...never mind...
yes, i like this. yuuki and tosa are prolly the ones to really ask on this but i can start the ball rolling. just option everything, every stat, including the effect of rock, paper, scissors (rps). you could even take every stat in troopstats.txt and projectiles.txt and make a slider on it. this would essentially make an editor and if applied to online play then it would be an online editor that could be manipulated while online. you would also add in all the hidden stats, like the effect of morale on units being shot at by guns, by archers.
ok, that can get a bit cumbersome, but essentially, that's what we've been asking for for quite a while now. if you look over the major complaints of the game, however, as recorded here in the forum, you'll find that slider options have been asked for in several main areas:
starting honor level of all units; 0, 1, 2, 3, etc
cost of individual units
allow/disallow armor upgrades
allow/disallow weapon upgrades
set max honor allowed
set max number of unit type
arqs work/dont work in rain
muskets work/dont work in rain
set max number of units overall
fatigue rate
include skill increase with honor increase
weak to strong effect of rock, paper, scissors
length of combat factors (how long a fight will take)
hidden morale effects, weak to strong
terrain bonus effects, weak to strong
add/remove (temporarily) impassable areas effect from a map (except buildings)
game speed
number of players (currently 8, but could be more, particularly if max units allowed is adjustable)
random unit availability (this has many possibilities)
i like your random option for weather and would include any and all seasons
continuous play option. going from map to map and getting reinforcements after each battle
completely random units for all players
allow/disallow mixing of ALL unit types, including mongol
unit speeds overall, slow to fast
kick player (host may boot someone from game during setup)
more game style options
forced same units (everyone takes EXACTLY the same units)
disable units option (any unit can be disallowed in game)
quick switch troopstats/projectile list, where these can be picked from a list by the host as to which he uses
spectators or not option
number of teams. (including an ffa, free for all)
reinforcement options. all or part of your units come in as reinforcements
deployment zone options
there are a great number of possibilities here and a lot of this has been discussed elsewhere. by combining some of these you could have, say a 3v3, where units from teammates could be deployed in the same zone, and, thus have one person take the cav, another the infantry and another the missiles and play as one LARGE, coordinated army, rather than 3 smaller ones.
by allowing smaller unit sizes and more players, it would be possible to have someone take only a few units each and again, combine your units into the larger army. clans with daimyos would make more sense in this manner.
and if some of this were allowed in M:TW, i could imagine a rather LARGE online campaign sort of thing, where a 'clan' is actually an entire country for the purposes of M:TW.
my current 'think' on all this is that we'll never see this for stw or we/mi and arent likely to see a lot of it for mtw either. the trickle of data coming out about mtw is NOT hyping any of these features. doesnt mean it's not there, but it does lead me to believe that is NOT where they've 'improved the engine'. what we're seeing mostly is improved graphics, new units, improved and expanded campaign play for single player and almost NO mention of multiplayer. draw your own conclusions.
thus, i offer up my suggestions, but am sadly figuring most of it will be ignored by the chief mucky-mucks at DT. maybe down the road we'll see more emphasis on multi, but i'm not placing any bets or holding my breath.

Be nice if all these variables could be saved into configurations too, extra-realistic settings should be able to switch off some units, as should some time-frame based arrangements.
Konnichiwa,
It saddens me that Kraellin san comes to the same conclusion as I do.

true in tha Faq.
too bad, I still hope for the Fantasy Total War and I hope they'll have something like that, it'll completely own the PCgamers market...and my soul ofcourse :P
Konnichiwa,
The sliders available in STW can't be accessed from the multiplayer lobby directly.
If I want to do something like turning restricted camera off in a game, I've to logout, go to options menu, browse in, browse out and log back on. It would be less inconvenient if these options were available/accesible in the build host menu.
Another thing springs in mind, 8-bit options. This caused a lot of problems on modern cards (I've a GeForce3), and STW doesn't remember that I toggled it off. I've to browse the menu and turn it off every time I start STW, a videoutility finally fixed it (registry change).

bump
Too many options would spoil the game, getting a balance is very, very important.
Konnichiwa FastCub san,
Options means that you can finetune balance to your own liking.
