Check out the 'crusaders_unit_prod11.txt' file for full info.

Likewise for building info check out 'crusader_build_prod13.txt'.

So many answers to the questions we have all been asking are in these files and so many answers to questions we hadn't thought of.

e.g. Troops will be dismountable!

I simply opened the text file with Excel and the columns came up great no need for any conversion.

DrNo, what causes you to say that troops can dismount? Is it some sort of option during the game? I don't have the demo so I can't see anything for myself.

There are specific units that are "FootKnights" - these are not "dismounted Knights" though. (i.e not mounted knights who you have dismounted to fight on foot)

I'm going to build and empire based on brothels. I wonder if you get income or whether they just improve morale...

After further checking of the file there is no actual stats like in STW. e.g. no attack, defence etc.. (except for ships!)but there sure is a whole lot of other info like shield size, armour type etc.. which will affect combat.

Maybe these files can be hosted on here so those without demo can see.

On the mount/dismount thing there is a column that lists what a unit becomes when they dismount. Then there is a column that specifies if a unit can dismount in open battle or just in sieges.
This will go a long way to making cavalry useful.

e.g. AlanMercenaryCavalry become simply Archers when dismounted, and MountedCrossbows become Crossbows.

Here is a list of units in file anyway:

That sounds like a dismount option is in there somewhere! I hope it's implemented in the final cut. It would offer so much tactical flexibility.

Hats off to Catiline and DrNofor the great info. That's an impressive collection of structures and units.

oops my mistake, the stats are in the file(Column V when using excel) and the best melee units are the Lancer or the LateRoyalNight.

Attack 5 Defence 7 Armour 9

Of course that dosn't take account of spears etc.. as these are both cavalry but serves as a good comparison to STW units as they seem to be using a similar range of numbers in the unit stats.

Darkmoor, it's always possible that some things in this file didn't make the final game.
But then there's always the patches to look forward to if it hasn't.

Aye Dr - its also possible it wasn't in the build i played, the game isnt finished yet afterall ;-)

One unit worth looking at though is English Billmen - these guys are lethal to mounted units - and i mean LETHAL (Halbediers are nasty also but very very slow) - it'd be interesting to see how (if) the stats relate this.

Gallowglass are pretty useful infantry also - it a tad hard to control... is there a modifier for something like a mellee attack and a charge attack, because from play some of the units are definately far far superior when charging (they actually push your units backwards for one and a charging wedge can cut right through a unit)

Darn you Catiline, I was thinking the same thing as i quickly looked over the buildings and brothel popped up, then I read your post!! You stole my idea!! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

DrNo

Darkmoor, GallowGlass get a charge modifier of 8(Highest) with Attack 5 Defence 0 and Armour 2.
So this makes their charge equivalent to Heavy Cavalry.

On Billmen there is a CavalryAttackBonus which the Billmen have set as 3(Highest). There are 5/6 other units that have this set this high. Also their weapon is rated armour piercing as are quite a few other units. So as well as taking attack defense etc.. armour and weapons will make a difference.
Interesting there is also a CavalryDefenseBonus which the Billmen have set as 1 while Pikemen have this set to 6 with CavAttBon of 2. So Pikemen will be great against Cavalry but their default stats are poor with Att 0 Def -2 Arm 1. SwissArmouredPike will kick ass though!

So looks like stats reflect your findings pretty acurately.

Thx Dr - the pikemen stats make sense i guess - defensively adept but poor in attack as they are so unweildy, great at holding a position but poor at taking one.

The Billmen really were lethal v cavalry, Gallowglass proved somewhat hard to control though - you tended to see them continue charging off into the distance after what's left of the unit they just routed - not too useful if there's still a battle to fight but fun to watch.
