are there anyway to change AI to produce more land army?Rather than just building lot of useless ships unnessarily:sweatdrop: (when they got 1 city left for example, those AI still producing lot of ships when they need more troops to defend their capitol!):help:

and they are on the mainland not a single city island....(of coz it is a coastal city like Thracian)

mostly it happened on the Greek Cities......what a waste when i expect more resistant.....

Sorry gunieawolf, but the AI is, most unfortunately, hard-coded into the game's mechanics and is unchangeable.

However, making ships much more expensive may result in them building less of them, however I'm not really one of the technical modder types, so I cannot really advise you here. My apologies.

Not true:no: one of the threads in the modding forum explains how the AI makes descisions based on two traits which can be edited. I'll try to find the name of the thread.:book:

The AI makes decisions on what buildings and units to prioritise according to its personality. For example 'trader stalin' or whatever other combination of tags. This is set in the descr_strat.
But those priorities are still small compared to game-driven decisions, like "my enemy is attacking me with loads of cavalry, so I will train spearmen".
Also price, class and category of units play a part in those things.

If i was you guineawolf i would make the upkeep of fleets higher - reduce the places where they can be built drastically and also put a very low value of preference for them in all AI personalities.

*edit* perhaps also increase initial cost and training times too if necessary.

Many Thanks

In Alexander a barbarian faction that the AI plays has troop maintenance costs of €1 per turn.

All its troop types have the same €1 per turn cost.

I assume this was allow the AI to build up a huge virtually maintenence free army.

Sadly Severous, in an R:TW environment, rather than the Alexander one, most factions are readily playable. This would allow the player to take advantage of the zero upkeep which results in the same unfair advantage over the AI.

i think i will try to mod the cost of ships higher(even thinking about the ships cost almost same with infantry cost is not that logical),so i will not seeing that greek cities can build more land army(if they do,they can hold against romans, more longer of coz)

it just annoying to see that the greek cities keep building ships when the situation need them to build more land army to protect their cities more than ships:sweatdrop:
