Being a cross platform kind of guy...
1. Fallout 3
2. GTA4
3. Crysis
4. Halo3
5. Medal of Honor: Airborne
edit: totally forgot... Mass Effect & HL ep2
Good thread topic - I was thinking of starting one, but then I came to the conclusion it was a bit of a barren period ahead in terms of expected releases.
In order of how good I expect the game to be:
(1) Mass Effect - looks to be in the Kotor mould. But by the time it comes out for PC, it will be ancient (and maybe I will be too).
(2) Fallout 3 - potentially fantastic if like FO2, merely good if like Oblivion.
(3) Dragon Age - dunno much about this, but how bad can a Bioware RPG be?
(4) Bioshock - could go up to 11/10 if it matches System Shock 2.
(5) M2TW Kingdoms - lowest rated as it it just an expansion (the next generation TW game would be at number 0).
1) Warhammer: Age of Reckoning - PvP & RvR (realm vs. realm) oriented mmo in a kickass fantasy universe. With WAR Mythic seems to be addressing all the issues that make most mmos dull grindfests. The amount of feedback and information coming from the developers is simply astounding and extremely encouraging.
2) Fallout 3 - I'm a little worried about how Bethesda is going to handle this but the thought of another Fallout game is too good to be true.
3) Dawn of War 2 - Loved Company of Heroes but the Warhammer 40K universe is much more fun. I can't wait to see DoW2 on the same engine as the CoH series.
4) Bioshock - Spiritual successor to System Shock 2. :2thumbsup: But why do I get the sneaking suspicion it's going to be alarmingly short?
5) Team Fortress 2 - I used to go bananas over TF Classic, one of the best online shooters ever made. The Scout and the Medic were my favorite classes.
There are only 4 I'm really looking forward to. There are plenty of others I might pick up if I have time, but these are the only 'must buy' titles on my list:
M2TW Kingdoms
Fallout 3
Crysis (Hopefully not out too soon, will need a major computer overhaul for this one)
Spore
Bioshock - looks nice
Dawn Of War 2 - just because
Warhammer Age of Reckoning - never played a MMO before, but I might for this.
and of course
Duke Nukem Forever! ~D
Sorry, couldn't think of five.

Hmm, my top three for the moment would be:
Spore
SC II
Kingdoms
In random order.
:balloon2:
1) Kingdoms
2) World in Conflict
3) eeehh, let me think...maybe the next update to Mount & Blade?
4) Heroes of SEPventure
5) Assassins Creed

1. Halo 3
2. Opposing Fronts
3. Crysis
4. Assassins Creed
5. Tom Clancys End War
Halo 3 is top because, although I never played any halos, its loved by all my friends on Xbox Live. I have high expectations of it.
Opposing fronts because Company of Heroes was and still is a brilliant game.
Crysis looks very revolutionary so I'll probably want that. I will probably get it on Xbox 360 if it comes out for that. Some say it won't be as good (if it does come out), but I'm sure my Xbox is more powerful than my PC anyways.
I loved Prince of Persia so I'll defo get Assassins Creed. I love the developers attitude in making it as well. They recreated the cities (Jerusalem, Acre etc.) as accurately as possible from Medieval documents with historians help. No lack of effort = Very good game guarantee.
End War is about WW3 America versus Russia in Europe. I dont even know what kind of game it is but its WW3 with America versus Russia in Europe...
To be honest, there's not many upcoming games that really have me chomping at the bit right now -- I already have most of the titles I want. That said, the ones that have me somewhat interested are (in no particular order):
1.) Spore
2.) Starcraft 2
3.) Disciples 3
That's really about it. I will add that I'm looking forward to the fantasy strategy title being worked on by Stardock. However, given that no details about it has yet been released -- including the name -- there's not much point in actually listing the game as "upcoming" yet. I'm sure it won't be available until at least 2008, if not later.

...I came to the conclusion it was a bit of a barren period ahead in terms of expected releases...
Yes, it actually is for most people, I have just realised. My tastes are usually very specific (I only like strategy games, or less preferable; FPS games [so no RPG or MMORPG] that are based on history, like Civ or TW, or the present, like BF2, and I tend to steer clear of futuristic games and I avoid mythical games like rabies infected diarrhoea), but as you can see my my top 5, there are actually quite a few which fit those catagories.
I might also add that I am anxiously awaiting an Age of Empires III Gold Edition. I know not everyong likes AoE3, but I do.
I suppose this thread topic will always be relevant.

1. Starcraft II because well, ITS STARCRAFT. I think that at worst it is just going to be a dissapointment since I don't think the folks at Blizzard could make something bad out of such a well known franchise.
2. Spore since Will Wright knows a thing or two about games (he made the Sims) and the game is a pioneer in its style of playing just like the Sims.
3. Hellgate London because its being developed by the guys who made Diablo II and you can probably agree that Diablo II was pretty well made wasn't it??
4. Guild Wars II since I am a cheapskate and don't won't to pay monthly fees to play a traditional MMORPG. I played the first one and thoroughly enjoyed it, but this time Arenanet is making the game more traditional like and will not have every area be instanced other than the towns.
5. Diablo III. I know its not known if it is being developed, but with SCII news, people start praying!!!!!

sigh Why do people want MOH??? Get Brother in Arms or Red Orchestra!!!
On PC in no order:
1.COH: Opposing Fronts
2.TW: Kingdoms
On console:
1.KH2: Final Mix
2.Assassains' Creed
3.Halo 3 (Play it when friend gets it)
4.Brother In Arms: Hell's Highway (Play it when friend gets it)

I don't like the idea of this game too much, but since Soren Johnson, the lead designer of Civilization IV, is also designing it, it can't be that bad. It will never be as good as Civ though.

Why favour Medal of Honour? Because it is the most venerable and accomplished of all the WWII shooters, and plus the idea of parachuting in everywhere is, well, appealing. I'll see how the critics rate it, and then see whether to go for Brothers in Arms or something else.
Different subject: anyone seen Halo Wars? It looks pretty cool.

At the moment I am quite interest in The Settlers VI - Rise of an Empire. It sounds like a pretty interesting next generation game - possibly better than it's earlier sequals (IV and below), although only playing it will inform me the truth regarding that matter.

Assassins Creed is coming for the PC too, so you don't have to buy an PS3.
Maybe for End War you might.
As for Battle Of Britain ; been waiting for that One for Ages too, i just hope they go ahead and release it soon its been really a long time since it was announced.

Spiffy:
Sins of a Solar Empire (real-time 4X space empire game)
Dragon Age (Bioware RPG)
Alan Wake (free-roaming psychological thriller)
Assassin's Creed (sneaky-stabby action adventure)
Bioshock (Bioshock)
These seem to be pretty solid upcoming titles.
Iffy:
World in Conflict (rehash of Ground Control with bits of CoH and C&C thrown in?)
Starcraft 2 (rehash of Starcraft? ...well, duh)
Hellgate: London (wonky "elite" pay-to-play scheme for "additional content"?)
Fury (PvP-only online RPG; can be anywhere from good to terrible)
Overlord (another attempt at a humorous pseudo-evil game?)
Disciples 3 (can 3D graphics preserve the wonderful art direction of D2?)
By rehashes I mean that those games are likely just refinements of the genre and probably don't break any new ground. Not necessarily a bad thing, but in such cases it's all about polish and presentation.
I really hope Disciples 3 isn't the train wreck that I think it will be.
Gah! I forgot about Sins of a Solar Empire. That one does look pretty cool, even I am wary about the fact it's in real-time. Still, it looks like it could be good.

There's nothing I really *must have* coming out, I've been disappointed too many times, but...
Bioshock looks very promising
Assasin's Creed is from the team that made sands Of Time (minus some key talent I'm afraid) and ahs an interesting premise, might be great
Dawn of War 2 might be great if they manage to stick to the winning formula and change enough to keep it fresh (and please get rid of the unit limits...)
and I really want Assassin's Creed, but I won't buy a PS3 just for that.
Play it on the 360 then
One of my Top 5 just slipped into Duke Nukem Forever territory (http://kotaku.com/gaming/pc/spore-slip-sliding-away-270324.php):
Spore has been "delayed indefinitely", but reached for comment today, Electronic Arts says that "Spore has slipped out of fiscal 08 and into fiscal 09". Either way you cut it, it means that the game we've all been waiting to play on our computers isn't coming anytime soon.
With all of the videos we've seen of gameplay showing off the different stages of Spore development and all of the media stops Will Wright has done talking about the game, it's kinda hard to figure out exactly what is taking so long. Could they be trying to port it to a console for a dual launch? Did the game need a major overhaul? Does Will Wright hate me and just like torturing me with some sort of non-existent Sisyphusian game?

I guess they figured that would give them enough time to figure out how to include the kitchen sink.
Seriously though, Spore is one of those games that promises to let you do everything. The problem with grandiose games that promise you the moon is that they usually wind up looking pretty on the launch pad until they explode shortly after take off. Methinks Spore might have gone wrong with its feature that allows you to continue the game beyond the planetary level. Simulating life and allowing you to play God is nothing new, Spore is essentially a rehash of Wil Wright's old games 'Sim Earth' and 'Sim Life' (albeit taken to an extreme) and then lopped together with an abstract 4X online space empires game for good measure! Anyway I'll wager the AI and 'galactic empires multiplayer' aspect of Spore is what's causing the delays.

Warhammer Age of Reckoning. I'm still waiting for a MMORPG that doesn't turn into an endless farming and mob-bashing. So well, hopefully, WAR will be that one.

Bah!! Blasphemy!!! No one doubts Will Wright...
Just joking, but from the looks of it from all of the preview and the success of the Sims that I think the worst the game will be is a dissapointment due to extremely hyped hopes.
3. Hellgate London because its being developed by the guys who made Diablo II and you can probably agree that Diablo II was pretty well made wasn't it??
This is true, but Diablo II also wasn't falsely advertised by the devs as MMORPG; yet Hellgate London is. Despite Hellgate being a 100% instanced game that is no more of a MMORPG than Diablo II was. In addition to that, Diablo II did not give you gimped gameplay and gimped character appearance if you do not pay a monthly fee for it, and Hellgate London does. Hellgate London to me is looking to be a huge ripoff. I hate when devs/publishers lie and mislead consumers by calling 100% instanced games MMORPGs - they are not MMORPGs. And hence trying to charge a monthly fee for them - like Hellgate London does - is ridiculous.
I wasn't sure to start slamming this game now or wait til it hits retail but due to my hate of deceptive marketing that is being promoted to consumers via this title, I decided might as well do both.
For those who do not want to read my long post above then here is a simple Penny Arcade comic that makes the same point:

I really hope Disciples 3 isn't the train wreck that I think it will be.That would totally suck...and likely.
Heroes V didn't turn out that good either. Disciples' charm has always been its rustic and detailed art; something which they wouldn't likely be reproducing in generic 3D lameness this time around.

Combat Mission: Shock Force
MTW Kingdoms
Bioshock
Crysis
A N Other
CMSF looks to be the bee's knees in terms of both realtime and WEGO modern day combat simulation and should keep me busy for several years to come. Kingdoms should also be good fun, of course. As for the others, well we'll just have to see if they live up to the hype.
