I have just been playing the MTW demo and it looks pretty good. In battles small things have been done, when archers run out of arrows if you order them to attack they go into hand-to-hand. (Did they do this in we/mi because i only have original STW)

Fatigue is well inforced and with cavalry you are taught to walk towards them until you are a short distance away before you charge. Making your men run tires them very quickley. (nifty new system for watching fatigue)

Finally in a seige cavalry apper to dismount and become infantry (mabey it was just a different unit) and you can use artillary men as attack units if they run out of ammo.

:-)))))

I'm actually not too happy with the auto attack feature on the archers. I can't remember if they'll stay where there are if they're set to hold position, but I wouldn't always want them to charge in, in SP you may want to maintain their strength, and in MP I'd not want them starting a rout.

This would be great but I suspect, w00tage, that you are mistaken. Hope you're not though.

What!?!??! I seem to remember that you got a bow with a red cross on it, just like when you try to fire guns in rain.

Dismounting knights are cool! I hope we are not being decieved.

With missile units in STW alt+left click will attack, alt+double left click will charge like normal infantry. Holding alt will give you the sword cursor. In the MTW demo they automatically attack when they're out of ammo.

Can't find the manual,so you'll have to take my word for it,but you could.I think you have to right click, and then the red cross becomes a sword ,and your ready to go.

No mounted units dismount in the battle. They are dismounted at the start, with no riderless horses to be seen.

I know of the Alt + click, I used archers a lot in Shogun. Couldn't help it. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

And Scourge w00tage is right, right click IS focus. Didn't use it much, used mouse and arrows.

I think i was wrong about the dismounted knights I saw two units:

Chivalric Knights (cav)
Chivalric Foot Knights (foot soldiers)

I think they may be different units

Wasn't over impressed with the demo was okay. But then again I couldn't stand the orginal shogun demo. When it comes to other games the same applies for the demo's of dues ex and sudden strike 1/2. No matter demo's aew only a starting point its not uncommon to see a demo get unfavourable reaction but the actuall game to be well recieved.

I guess your all hoping that I'm right.

Himmm Auto attack.... If the old stw folks recall, archers did not auto attack when out of arrows (but alt click and they did), in WE they auto attack when out (a problem when you have them grouped with your guns)

in running thru all the tuts i never saw a unit mount or dismount, but in the stat files there are several references to dismounting and it 'appears' (not tested yet) that you may even be able to tell the stat files WHAT unit you end up with when you dismount. thus a given horse archer might be able to end up, once dismounted, as a light infantry unit.

like i say though, this is only hinted at so far and no tests run yet. and as i recall, it was mounted to dismounted, but never dismounted to mounted. more checking is necessary.

I thought the MTW demo was straight, besides the "periodic" slowdowns when it came timefor battle! And Chivalric Foot Knights and Chivalric Knights are 2 SEPERATE units! No dismounting! Now that I think of it, it's a d**n shame that the MOngols aren't playable. For some time I've been wondering about how the Creative assembly would render Golden Horde Infantry. Maybe they'll be in the custom battle. Can't wait to try out the Turks!

in the demo, what's up with the mosques and houses "shrinking" when bombarded?
