methinks that is a Modding Question - which should be in Modding Questions sub-forum, but anyway you can't do what M2TW does as you don't have the controlled FOW option that can be lifted by script.

If the bit you want to get to later is an island you might be able to do something by using the in-between depth sea type, I think the early boats can't sail on that but not sure.

Could you be more in depth and tell me how I could do this and add the later ships

Actually many apologies just went to check and I appear to be wrong on that - all boats seem able to move on shallower 2 sea types, just with different movement distance and nothing on deeper one. I could have sworn there was something about that (am possibly thinking of entirely wrong game series :embarassed: )

so there's no way I can do this
at all...
can't make the factions dormant till a certain year make sure no one attacks them or block ships until a certain point in the game

There are still a few things you can do;

Try using the superfaction setting which is what stops the senate expanding in vanilla RTW, it also has other effects though and I think the faction you want to be 'dormant' has to be surrounded by factions it is 'superfaction' of. You'd need to experiment to see how that worked.

You can have immobile generals by trait which also stop the armies under them moving till the trait is reversed or they die (that's used in End of Days on BI), doesn't stop anyone attacking them though and you need to do something to stop cities they own creating new armies.

If you want to do something by scripting you could have a faction parked on an island that you can never get to (using deep water) and script spawn armies of theirs to appear elsewhere - probably has some odd effects though as distant armies often seem to want to go home....

There might be some other stuff you could do via scripting but I'm not good on that.

Finally if you use the BI.exe you can have hording which means you can have an emergent faction (like the slavs).

However there is no way you could do the ships, and you're likely to run into problems if you have a large expanse of water (The Atlantic)

I've decided to give up on this part and change the timeframe as well:hippy:
