So I found the Town names and wanted to change some of them.It would better help me remeber the locations of the citys and i could add a personal feel to them.(civilization style)

But if I change the names in the one file, are there other files that need changing? Also are there any known bugs by down this?

Depends - what file are you looking at? Regions and settlement names?

As to known bugs- no not if you do it properly. Make sure you back up any files you change though, as always.

If you're just changing the names in the text folder then I don't think there's any downside. Note that this is assuming you're modding vanilla and not a mod with a background script that may have to refer to town names.

Don't change that one unless you're prepared to change descr_strat, descr_mercenaries, descr_win_conditions and others.

If you just want to change their name on the map, just go to data/text and find the settlement name file (I forgot which one) and just rename the ones outside of the brackets. That one controls the text and not the internal name so you can name them there as freely as you want without altering any gameplay at all.
