Well it was a glorious campaign and generally enjoyable experience apart from some annoying siege battles which I eventually avoided with the time limit option.
I played as England on M/VH difficulty, long campaign. A good balance but still a little too difficult to forge alliances & keep the peace. I only had one sustainable ally through the entire game, that was with Sicily. I finished with about 35 turns to spare. I'm Total War'd to death now and it was almost a relief to be able to uninstall the gargantuan, sleep depriving thing from my hard disk.
