View Full Version : I see the new world now, WTH
I see the carrabean and florida but now what, I can only land on one spot of the Aztec territory and eh. I am getting pretty eaten up by the Timorids because I don't really feel like continuing this campaign as the Moors but I would like to finish conquring the new world. Does anyone have a map of the new world so I can at least see what I am up against and what is the best for the moors to use. I used mostly Christian Guards and got my butt kicked on autocalc. I am too tired to go on so any other info.

Don't autocalc and the Christian Guard will wipe the aztecs off the map.
I'd use Camel Gunners. All the way.
Yeah, those Christian Guards will wipe just about anything. I used a combo of Christian Guards/dismounted Christian Guards and Camel Gunners at the end game and didn't bother with anything else except a few cannons.

The Aztecs freak at horses....I can't imagine what camels would do to them.

Sail past Florida into the Gulf of Mexico and land north of Tlaxcala. The rest of the Mexican coastline is blocked by cliffs, so don't bother looking for another landing.
The Aztecs have only three settlements but quite a few large armies. Since they are very weak against cavalry, bring a lot of horsemen - but make every effort to fight on the plains rather than in the forests, since your cavalry lose their advantage there (and forest battles are really hard to control anyway). Most of Mexico is covered by trees so this can be difficult; look at the strategic map carefully to pick out clear areas. If you take losses you can hire Tlaxcalan mercs to replace them, but they aren't very good so don't depend on them.
Once you've taken Tlaxcala you can sap the Aztec numbers by letting them besiege you, then sallying out to crush them. It's a bit cheap but if you're short on units it may be your only option.
Also, send spies ahead of your armies or you'll be ambushed. Be aggressive and try to destroy their armies in detail - multiple full stacks of Aztecs attacking simultaneously can cause problems for even seasoned European armies.
