Whats your favorite cover of a Beatles song? Mine is Joe Cocker's With a Little help from my friends.
Woodstock (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FMq0iDX1yE)
Looks like he did it there twice there.
This time with Mad dogs and Englishmen. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQDakdp5WZ0)
Nothing will ever be as amusing as Ray Charles slaughtering Eleanor Rigby. You have to hear it to believe it.

The Joe Cocker one... because it sounds nothing like the Beatles song. :laugh4:
Seriously, though, it's a good song. Frankly, though, the Beatles are overrated. I mean, grated, Magical Mystery Tour wasn't bad, but then they were taking bucketloads of psychedelic drugs, whereas Syd was able to surpass them with a few hits of acid (trust me, his acid escapades were overrated) and a bunch of marijuana; not to mention Jefferson Airplane, Creedence, Hendrix, the Band, the Doors, every blue singer ever (okay, that last one isn't really fair), Jerry Lee Lewis, Janis Joplin and Big Brother, the Moody Blues... you get the point.
Which ever one is least played on the radio:thrasher:
Well the only song I know that actually surpassed the beatles' version is with a little help from my freinds. I mean that emotion the guy puts in the song.
I get the goose pimples everythime I hear that song.

does Paul Mccartneys modern version of Helter Skelter count?
Hendrix's version of Day Tripper is awesome.

I always liked this one
Cyndi Lauper - Working Class Hero (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrwsUur6SfE)
Maybe better than the original. Not a bad band she has behind here there. :laugh4:
Have you heard Greenday's? I didn't know it was a Beatles song but I think it's good nonetheless, but that's just coming from a Greenday fan:2thumbsup:

Working class hero isn't a beatles song.
The soundtrack of the movie I am Sam consists of nothing but beatles covers, some of them were pretty good IIRC, but I don't have the album so i can't check.

If this wasn't the Frontroom I'd go on a rant about how Greenday have no talent.

The Beatles songs Hendrix covered were great. He added a certain element of rock that, for a rock fan like myself, most of the Beatles songs were lacking - being more pop-ish.

Another babe lost in the woods. Im sick of all you people who dont give the Beatles their do. Sure they did a lot of pop. What do you want in 1963? Is Helter Skelter pop? Any of those songs I posted in the pyschodelic thread pop songs? How much pop did they produce after Revolver? The Beatles made music what it is today. All the groups of the 60s bowed down to them then. They are the most important , influential and innovative group of all time. Get your heads screwed on straight.

None... the Beatles suck and none of their music is worthy of a cover.:2thumbsup:

I once saw a cover made by Michael Jackson of 'Come together'. Believe it or not, it was great!! Doesn't that say all about the quality of that song?

Yes "I wanna hold your hand" is musical genius. Thanks God they provided us with that world changing lyrical masterpiece. Oh and "We all live on a yellow submarine" makes me want to go back in time and slap Bach around for not thinking of it first. The best thing the Beatles ever did was let John hook up with Yoko, nuff said!!!
LONG LIVE ELVIS!!!! Preferably the fat one with rhinestones, now thats a guy I can relate too!!!:2thumbsup:

Never could see what any body saw in the man. I mean I see he was talented but not my cup of tea. My mom loved him. Always bought me his records. I never played them. He was so old fashioned. this was like 1962 or 3 and later. I liked hound dog as a little kid. The I grew out of it :whip:

Peanut butter jelly, yeah!!!
Peanut butter jelly, yeah!!!
Peanut butter jelly, yeah!!!
Peanut...... Butter...... Jelly........ Yeah!!!!
You don't see me going around saying he's the next Dylan. The Beatles are overated plain and simple much like thier music. I'll leave the thread since I'm not contributing to the topic but I still think that the "Beatles revolutionized music" group think is simple conformity of the masses.

'Across the Universe' on Young Americans, by Bowie, is pretty good. It even has Lennon on backing vocals. (As does Fame btw)

Couldn't find a link on YT, however I found a Hitler Youth (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_q5mlb3Bjzs) version. :inquisitive:
