View Full Version : Why the Mongols are not playable

Well this is why I think they aren't.
Don't forget Lithuania are going to be a non-playble faction too.
I'm pretty upset by the Horde been non-playable in the campaign, but I understand why.
I believe the horde aren't playable simple because they never built a huge amount of things did they? And politics weren't invovled that much with the Mongols ways of life, basically they built huts I think not large stone castles, so that is why I think they are not a playable faction in the campaign, basing it on that I think CA were smart.

Cool NagatsukaShumi.
But the Mongols were not totally destructive they had some positives too. Through them the trade routes were opened and kept secure and during the Yuan Dynasty there was a flourish of art and crafts
I will watch out for the mod

Probably the same time of cheat that permitted us to play with the rebel factions in Shogun.
With all the open-available files made to us by Ca, i suspect that NagatsukaShumi won't be the only one modding his heart out. Talk about replay value.

La vie est un don.
Well we had the Mongol Invasion as part of STW and in that, they didn't get to build either, so no reason why we won't get Mongol campaign as part of an expansion.
In fact MTW will open the door to a wide range of future expansion ideas.

As far as the *cheats* go I hope they're not for every rebel faction, but selective. E.g. I want to play as the Vikings in the early era, rather than Mongols, or Hungary etc. I think about 5 rebel faction cheats would do for now http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif Mods are great fun too though http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I agree with Blackship, the Vikings had so much influence on European history from about 500AD-1100AD. Although in the early era they will be present, this doesen't really make up for the fact that the player can't be them. Sure you can be them in the High era, around the 1200's, but by this time they had converted to Christendom and had lost thier pagonistic fighting edge.

wow... hardly to believe 12 faction is not enuff... i hope CA would make Global Domination: Total War Starts @ 1 AD...
mods are welcome http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
In the game Mongols are able to construct building like Bower (1,2....) and Spearmaker (1,2...). Historically they did not construct any castles, but if gameplay is at stake, I will agree to sarafice reallity.
PS. With this it will be much easier to make the patch allowing them to be playable.
